Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I guess it's been a while since I've had a Full Sail, don't remember this helpful hint on the caps.

Maybe it’s ice cream and back rubs.

Brake pads came yesterday, new tires today. Contador will be back on the road with both sets of wheels.

I figure plan B may be being fitted for a pirate eye patch.

BTW, I had a vitrectomy and laser work on my right eye 10 years ago but it was at the edge of my vision. The bleeding in my left eye this time is central.

Sadly, there is signs of minor leakage in my right eye again.

I need to wax some bikes. You getting a front wheel to match that back wheel?

RIP Prince. It's been 5 years since he passed. A local station played Prince all day, which made for some nice motoring to the trailhead and to my favourite coffee shop.

Done!

Ran into a couple snags along the way. This is only the second time I've rebuilt a bike with a cup-and-cone BB. Once both cranks were in place and screwed down, I could feel the SLIGHTEST play. I ended up loosening the lock ring, and using a screwdriver in one holes in the adjustable cup to tighten it up just a bit, then retightened the lockring. So far, so good.

When I got to the point of cabling the derailleurs, I ran into two issues. The first was that no matter what I did, the chain was rubbing on the big ring, which is amazing because the opening is ENORMOUS! I eventually realized the chainring was wobbling. I thought, "Chainring's bent!", so I tried a 53 tooth ring I took off the Ritchey. Same thing. Uh-oh. Luckily, I had bought another set of cranks after I stripped the threads out of the NDS crank that came with it. Because they were in better condition, I was using the ones I'd bought. So, I removed the DS crank, moved the chainrings to the original crank, and put it on. That fixed it! I can only assume the other crank spider is some how bent or warped.

Then I couldn't get the rear derailleur adjusted quite right. So I checked the alignment and of course it was bent! I put THAT back in order and it got much quieter! Success!

Then the brakes. Lordy. It took me most of an hour to set up the brakes. I THINK they're right now. I hadn't ever set up a bike with non-aero cables, so THAT took a bit of care and fiddling - measure twice, cut once.

And of course, by the time I was finished, it was dark. No ride today. Poop.
