Prices for classic bikes?
Is there a book or publication on bike's values.

Bile should be pretty cheap, no need for a price guide.
Maybe some restaurants put some exotic bile on your fig newtons?

No. Search completed items that have sold on ebay. Thats a start. Of course, most local sales are going to be less, often a lot less.

Whatever you do, don't use bicyclebluebook.com as anything more than a point of curiosity. It's a little better than a random number generator, but not much. For instance, it just told me a 1993 Pinarello Montello (the only Montello that had a value for) is work about $450 in excellent condition. In fact, a Montello frame and fork in fair condition would probably sell for that. It's somewhat useful for bikes that are less than 10 years old.
Sheldon Brown's web site has a "wild guess" guide on values that's a somewhat more useful starting point.
Vintage Lightweight Pricing Guide Atala to Fuji
The guide was written in 1997, so the prices are subject to being completely wrong, but it will at least help you distinguish between a bike that might have some value and one that doesn't. It's mostly commentary, not prices, and the commentary is well worth checking.

Check out a Litespeed on BBB some time: 1994 Catalyst, Campy Athena, excellent condition = $298. Or a Colnago. 2008 Master X Light, in excellent condition: $360. Ridiculous.

If you want to buy it, it's a priceless, collectible, vintage antique.
If you want to sell it, it's old junk I'll take off your hands.

BBB is a tool used by bike stores to minimize the amount of money that customers get on trade ins. Good for buyers. Bad for sellers.

Sheldon Brown and Mike Kone made an attempt.
It was a good faith stab, now way out of date.
Mr. Kone was going to update it but did not get very far.
A few collectors have asked for a value guide, no takers.
This was for upper end vintage lightweight bikes.
In general, there is no potential profit to spend the effort to do it right.
