Newb

There's currently an e-bike discussion on the touring forum. I can't imagine one for touring, but around town/commuting, Yes! I've seen the $4K ones at the LBS. that's not gonna happen. But a cargo bicycle with a post-fit might be possible.
Oh!! you masters of e-bikes please enlighten me as a newb.

What would be your question?

The problem with touring is range and charging. That said, if you limit your power output to 200 watts, and use one of the new bigger compact batteries, sure it is possible.

I like an e-bike for commuting. For touring - I like to slow down and smell the roses.

I could tour a little bit with my ebike. Range isn't really an issue since it rides like a regular bicycle without assist, just about 20lbs heavier. I often ride without assist since its a nice cruiser.. but it's not really a touring bike. I wouldn't want to load camping equipment and go out for a week or more. It's not built for it. Until we get 100+ miles out of batteries with a few hours charging time, the 'electric' part of the eBike is dead weight once you run out of power and i could easily do 100 miles per day on a touring bike.

I got a super sweet ebike for $1800.00, if that's your question. I name it in my avatar. Its bulletproof so far and I ride it often to work.

Hi Squeezbox. My Ebike costs $6500. But I'm handicapped so I need the suspension. Would you like to see a picture?
