I also like it. Have you ever thought about how weird it is that whenever you post pics of your bike it gets love, but when the Feather shows up as a choice in one of the "Which bike should I buy" threads it usually gets pushed aside?

You know...I have thought about that before. I wonder if it's because my Feather is the farthest from 'stock' that it can really get, aside from a new paint job and headset.

Not currently riding fixed, quite stressful in the inner city. I've got new black pedals, a black seat clamp and a black chain on it's way.

Traded my Omniums for 75s to match my Sugino drillium chainring, put the drops and brake back on:
Looking at that pic my saddle angle totally seems wrong, but the nose is actually slightly down. Weird.

Oh man the $100 ebay conversion kit... those things spew oil everywhere.
Are you using 2 stroke oil? I'm asking because the gas in the filter looks clear and without necessary additive lubricant.

the filter and the line above it is actually empty, that's why it looks clear
it is a little oily at the moment, but that's due to the ridiculous 16:1 mix they suggest for the break-in cycle

16:1 ? You've gotta be kidding ! I'd think that rich a mixture would completely foul the spark plug. The richest mixture I've ever seen used is maybe 30:1, and I use 50:1 in my two-stroke power tools.

My early 70's Nishiki Olympic frame and fork bought on eBay last fall and built up with mostly middling components. An aging back dictates the somewhat un-aerodynamic position on the bars, but it's very comfortable with the long wheelbase and relaxed frame angles.
I did spring for a White Industries freewheel and Wipperman chain, but the rest of it is purely functional except for a dash of blue bling here and there. I like the Oriental Blue original paint, even though it's pretty chipped up, so I just put a heavy coat of wax over everything, even a few little spots of surface rust. Hey, it's retro-chic. Even the Blackburn rack is from about the same vintage. Yeah, it's got the bag, mirror, tail light and all that crap, but it doesn't bother me to not be cool. More resistance, ya know. I'm spinning a 44 x 17 at 85-90 rpm for 25 miles three times a week and am about ready to go to a 46 x 17. Not too bad for an old geezer, even though I do get passed a lot!

^^^ That's a very classy bike and I'm totally with you on the riding position. Now, all you need are some nice full fenders, and it will be complete.

Lotta do-dads on that, but thats a cool bike. I love old Nishikis and Shoguns. Tough work bikes, easy to find parts.
Hopefully in a couple weeks i'll be able to post the Basso up here. Been traveling for job hunting purposes so it has
kinda fallen behind a little...
