Cannondale Synapse 2016 Disc 105 Pricing

Saw this Cannondale for sale for $1150CAD on marketplace and am wondering if anyone can tell me if this is overpriced or not. He had it dropped down from $1700..

My current bike is a Cannondale R600 which I believe to be from 2001.

Sorry if this is not the right area to post an inquiry on value

I'd keep looking. Mechanical discs paired with QRs... If that's not a problem for you, I think $500 USD would be OK.

Overpriced. Mechanical disc brakes are fine, and frankly I prefer them as they are not as powerful as hydro brakes and I don't need that kind of power. Quick release wheels coupled with disc brakes are fine as well. I had them on my mountain bike with hydro brakes and never had any issue with them, plus I know dozens of other that have this combo and have zero issues with them.
I value that bike under a grand. It is used and used is used.

In the Summer of 2020, I purchased a new 2020 Synapse with disc brakes and a 105 groupset for $1800 US (approx $2400Cdn).

I sold it in Oct ‘22 for $1100US (approx $1475Cdn). That was a bit over 60% of what I paid for the bike. The bike had no scratches, paint wear, dents, etc.. The 105 groupset was barely used. I removed it soon after buying the bike and installed my Ultegra Di2 groupset. Prior to selling the bike, I had the 105 gear reinstalled on the bike bringing it back to how it was configured when I bought it. So, the bike was in like-new condition.

The seller is asking $1150Cdn (approx $850US) for a 2016 model. Maybe that price is 50% or so of what the bike cost when new?

If the bike is in great shape, I don’t think the asking price is too out of line but may be a bit high. With that said, there is always some wiggle room in negotiating a final price. I’d suggest $1000Cdn and see what response you get. If the seller rejects, ask what price would close the deal…and go from there but be prepared o walk away.

BTW, I thought the Synapse was a great bike but I saw a Pinarello I fell in love with it and bought it, which made the Synapse expendable.

It is not worth that in the slightest. It is a decent enough bike but I would probably pay max $500 if the bike is in stellar condition. I wouldn't want Promax brakes on my bike especially if the bike is $2500 new back in 2016 and not carbon fiber. Back than I would say maybe it is a $1500-1800 bike.

ProMax brakes, FSA crank, I wouldn’t call it at 105 groupset more like shifters and derailleurs 105 the rest is lower tier.

I wouldn't pay $855usd for it. But if it fits and you can't get anything nicer and newer for less, then it may be a good deal for you at this point in time in your area.

I think that tire clearance is limited to 28 or 30 mm and is probably not tubeless compatible. I would rather have a $650 microshift-equipped Triban all-road bike and add good tubeless tires

A new road bike for $650, no thanks! I am good on that. Unless it is some deep sale or something. Having sold hybrids at that price I know they aren't all that great usually Tourney or bottom end Microshift and cheap cable brakes on a cheap aluminum frame with aluminum fork or hi-ten fork trying to turn that same cost into a road bike is not going to be much good if the hybrid is set up like that.

My wife and I have been riding a tandem (so, gross weight in excess of 325 lb/148 kg), with mechanical disks paired with QRs, for about 10 years with zero issues. And, we ride in various areas so the front wheel has been taken off and reinstalled thousands of times. Again, zero issues.

This boogeyman isn't real.
