Reminds me of this story that I saw on ESPN during a weather delay in the College World Series regionals about a Swedish Adventure Race team that adopted a injured stray dog that wouldn't leave them after they showed some kindness to him at one of their stops. I don't think the clip below is the full story, it's worth finding "on demand". Have Kleenex close at hand
edit: maybe this is the full story

Great Story about Arthur...

Hi Deal4Fuji - Great story about Arthur and the people on the team. Also an interesting sport. Compared to so much else that is going on right now, an up-lifting and encouraging story. Thanks!

Thanks Mike, the one I saw went a few minutes further to cover Mikael starting The Arthur Foundation to benefit stray dogs in Equador. Arthur's become somewhat of a celebrity: Arthur Foundation

No, I can't stand them and hope they go extinct. I'm not alone. Dogs like those in the video's however, give me pause. Those are good doggies.

Hatred of dogs is the reason I didn't do well with online dating - literally every single woman says, "Must love dogs" in their profile.

I don't like dogs in general because they crap all over the yard, they chase you an bite at your feet when you're cycling, they cost a fortune in vet bills, but most of all, the reason I detest them, is because they get into people's affections and turn those people into anti-social dog-lovers. You can't go to their house without the dog slobbering all over you, you can't sit on the couch without getting covered in hair. Obviously all of these reasons can be traced back to the owners, to there lack of respect for their pets, for their unwillingness to train the animals as all domesticated dogs need to be.

Back in the old days people had dogs and the dogs stayed outside, knew their place, they were trained not to commit anti-social behavior. Today people treat dogs like 'people' and personally I find it sickening. One observation I have made though is that the people who become true pet lovers do so because they can't seem to engage in a true relationship with another person, with a human. I have seen it time and time again, lonely men, lonely women who have alienated all their friends and family, getting a dog and forming an un-natural relationship with it. Today a lot of adults even allow their dogs to sleep on their bed. Disgusting!

It's called the pet culture, another example of how our western society is running away from it's traditional social obligations. Have a great day

Personification of animals and objects is a big problem and it robs of his inherent dignity but that's not why I dislike dogs. I dislike dogs because of dogs, not because of their owners or what society says or does.

Have always disliked dogs since I was a child but the rare time I meet a good dog, like the ones in this thread, have been memorable and a real treat.

I would love to ride along with the dog in the first video, or even have it to my home. That's a good doggie.

It sounds like your issue is more with bad human behavior rather than the dogs themselves. I feel the exact same way about society's addiction to smart phones.

Dogs are inherently friendly, smart, loyal, and have a desire to please. All good traits. Those traits and their associated behaviors only change when the animal is abused or neglected.

dated a girl once with a doberman. every time she & I "got busy" the dog would growl at me & gimme a nasty sideways look. she'd giggle then usher the dog to another room. never planned ahead, just always let it happen

You are supposed to wait until you are married. The dog was trying to tell you something, trying to do you a favor.

How any given dog was raised or how their owner cares for it really doesn't matter to me.

Sure it does. It's the only thing that matters. You just don't see that.
