Hold Fast straps make my stance too wide?

I love Hold Fast straps because my shoes range in bulkiness, and they are really easy to adjust. I also don't ride fixed so I can do it easily while riding as well. I've realized though that they make my feet too far apart, so I'm wondering if there is anything that would give a narrower stance, and also be east to adjust (with one hand preferably).

It's the gigantic BMX pedals you're most likely using causing this, not the straps.

It won't be me, but someone will be along to tell you to go clipless very soon.

Ah that's probably true, but those are the only pedals that work with Hold Fast right? I have SPD pedals/shoes but usually I want to wear shoes that I can walk in too.

I've used holdfast-type straps with more narrow platforms. Tough to pull them through the slots in the pedal, but they work just the same.

Going along with what Scrod said...the straps are most likely holding your foot in the middle of the pedal. If you feel it's too wide, I'd aim for a smaller pedal. Or slack the straps a bit so you can bring your foot in closer to the bike.

Clipless will fix that.

EDIT: Now that I got that out.

Like the rest are saying, try getting narrower pedals.

I use GR-9s and Soma clips & straps. I can ride my bike in almost any shoes and get off and walk around all normal. Life is awesome.

Also, look at your crankset / spindle length could be contributing to high "q factor."

I alternate between SPD-SL's for real riding, and BMX Pedals+YNOT Straps for casual riding.

I ended up re-building the BMX Pedals with a shorter spindle to get the "Q-factor" Right. Also look at somthing like the Chrome Kursk?

I put hold fasts on some quill pedals on my Kilo TT

Take the plastic toe clip, cut it so theres only about an inch of flat plastic, and flip it around to face towards the back of the pedal then bolt it over the front strap under the pedal, then run the back strap through the slots for the original single strap.

its kinda hard to get in with bigger shoes since the pedals are too narrow to keep the straps shape, but way more narrow than BMX,
