Yeah that makes sense. A friend and I drove out there separately but rode together. Long drive for sure, but not riding solo makes it a little better.
you ever do the Holy Roller route? Less gravel/dirt, but shorter drive. There’s some good gravel riding in Lockhart too.

I have hung out with enough CtC riders to know that riding the route one way and then back is called "CtC Extreme" or something like that. AFAIK, nobody has done it, it's 1200km. dwmckee's route makes a loop that crosses most of the state twice.

Bikes: Co-Motion Cappuccino Tandem,'88 Bob Jackson Touring, Co-Motion Cascadia Touring, Open U.P., Ritchie Titanium Breakaway, Frances Cycles SmallHaul cargo bike. Those are the permanent ones; others wander in and out of the stable occasionally as well.

At about 850 miles round trip it could be a great practice run for the Great Divide.

Don, yep, we have done some of the same rides -- I did Mount Davis last year, too, and Hilly Billy. Think I saw you at Keystone Gravel, too - that was a killer. Did your Whiskey Rebellion ride in '18, but couldn't make it in '19 - it's on my wish list for '21 if things are safe by then!
