Oh, HELL NO! Today started out at 40°F, got up to 44° by 10am, then dropped to 41° this afternoon. Oh, and did I mention the penetrating cold rain?

I USED to ride in that crap 40+ years ago (as well as snow/ice/slush). I hope that now that I'm quite a bit older than I was back then- and that I'm also quite a bit smarter! I haven't intentionally ridden in the rain in over 30 years.

Steve in Peoria, where we definitely experience this sort of nonsense
Well, since steelbikeguy has entered Jef Mallett's Frazz (which is a favorite) into the thread, I have to even it up with Stephan Pastis's Pearls Before Swine (which is another favorite).
These clever artists seem to have a friendly go at each other from time-to-time.
The small irony is Jef Mallett pretty much quit cycling to concentrate on ultradistance swimming by the time this Pearls Before Swine strip was published even though his character Frazz was still cycling big-time.
So is it Frazz (with the duplicate "z") or Pastis the one who doesn't think of everything?

The "battle" between Jef Mallett and Stephen Pastis has been fun to watch over the years.
I saved a few of the Frazz comics dealing with this ongoing conflict (and saved the various "Jef the Cyclist" Pearls comics too...)

A few of mine, the first is a statue commemorating "those who went down with their ships" in Gloucester, Mass.
This was in a small farm community in the middle of Mexico

A Shore point somewhere in The Dominican Republic

Going to an Amish Wedding

I am impressed that in both of those the bike is anatomically correct.

Cross training = de-mossing the lawn

Alternative summer cycling activity. Scraping and raking part of the front moss lawn.

^^^^^^ Reminds me of a friend who had purchased a beautiful new Harley Davidson Wide Glide. When I visited his garage he had a heavy chain looped thru the Harley and through his old Gravely tractor. I looked at it and said " Bob, are you worried about someone stealing your Gravely?"

He didn't laugh much......

IIRC, Bill Watterson was something of a cyclist back in the day. His strip sometimes featured chewing magazine, which was a parody of cycling publications of the '90s.

Here are a few shots from Cumberland Island GA:

We grabbed a couple of rental bikes after getting off of the ferry and rode down the only road on the island.

We found a nice spot on the beach. Is it “off topic” to show bikes?

No bikes north.

No bikes south.
