Restored 1971 Mondia Special value

I’ve finally come to my senses and realize that I’ve got more bikes than time to ride them all so I’m parting with a few. Here’s some pics of my ‘71 Mondia Special that I’m putting up for sale but not really sure what to ask. Right now I’ve got it listed at $750 in a “throw it at the wall and see what sticks”
approach.
Campy Nuovo Record groupset, Mafac brakes, Campy pedals, Mavic GP4 wheels with Continental Giro tires, 3ttt Record stem, nice paint.

Thoughts ?

Not sure where you have it listed, but it's probably a $1,000 bike on the eBay market right now. Lovely restoration, excellent build... Good luck with your sale!

I can’t take credit for the build as I bought it in this condition from a gentleman in the SF area who did the work. It really is a nice bike but I have too many.

Great looking build except for the red pin striping I would be inclined myself to test a small discrete section with some acetone to see if it will come off. I would agree on the $1000 price range.

...yeah, I think you're low, too. But for a quick, local sale on CL, it's a good price given that you live in Nevada County. It's hard to get people to come up from the Bay Area anymore. It was never easy, but now it's harder. And the market for this is smaller in Sacramento.

Beautiful bicycle....personally I would be cautious using acetone, you may remove more than the pinstriping...
Best, Ben

For this one use the cheap nail polish skin safe acetone found for a couple bucks in nearly any dollar store a clean cotton rag tee shirt and a lot of patience.

I dunno about the $1k valuation. I've seen a few Mondias on eBay and I was tempted but they were not asking this much.

I bought one a few years ago in original unrestored condition . It is in fantastic shape rigged much like yours and I didn’t pay much for it. Mine has Super Champion wheels with Campy HF hubs. The chrome on these are usually pristine because they were originall clear coated. Although mine is unrestored , it is in very nice condition and I would not sell it for less than $800-$900.

I have noticed a tendency in this forum to tell the OP what they want to hear. When the OP is a seller we price high (the price we would like to get for the bike if we were selling it) : When they are a buyer we price low (the price we would like to pay for the bike if we were buying it).
It is a beautiful bike but I think the craigslist price is typically $600 to $700. I think the ebay price is typically $750 to $900.

A potential downside, besides the amateurish lug lining, is that a large percentage of the potential buyers do not want tubular tires, so they will factor in the cost of replacing rims and tires. (This works out to my advantage since almost all my vintage bikes have tubulars.)
It might be worth a try to list it here on Bike Forums where the anti-tubular bias is not so strong.

I would agree on trying listing it here as said the likely bias against the tubulars and lug lining likely won't be as strong. A lot of members here ride tubies and wouldn't have issues with cleaning up and redoing the pin stripping themselves on a bike this nice.
