Do I need to Use My BB Spacers?

I am building up a new bike using a Wheels Manufacturing 386 EVO 24mm spindle BB with a Shimano Ultegra R8000 crank. If it matters, the bike has 130mm rear spacing. The BB comes with several 0.5 and 1.0mm spacers with the instructions to "consult you crank manufacturer's recommendations" on how many to use and where to place them. Of course, Shimano has no information (that I can find) about the need to use any spacers. Does this mean none are needed? Thanks!

Unless there's some rubbing between the crank and bottom bracket, no shim washers should be needed. I recently installed two GRX cranks with the wheels manufacturing BB86 thread together, angular contact bearing bottom brackets and they did not require any of the shim washers.

By nearly miraculous coincidence, I just opened up a box containing a Shimano SM-BBR60 bottom bracket and was wondering why it contained no spacers. I handed it over to the kid and told him to use whatever spacers (if any) were already present on the current one, but for road bikes with all Shimano parts I think the default is not to require them.

Thanks DaveSSS - there was no rubbing, but I wasn't sure if there might be chainline reasons I needed them.

Wheels Mfg. product installation for this BB says "Cup spacers provided with SRAM GXP Bottom Brackets only".

Yes, there could be a chain line issue. I found this recently on a donated bike at the non-profit. I removed a spacer and that solved the issue.
