45 miles again today, 82 degrees with medium winds to start, 20 to 30 mph headwind at the beach, and 10 to 20 headwind on the return trip. Went Rio Hondo, LA riverbeds, Shore line Village to Seal Beach. Return trip was the San Gabriel River Bed. Went faster than yesterday but felt a little tired on the return trip. Lots of Zombie walkers out with their kids and dogs.

Rode 23 relatively easy miles today. Not yet fully recovered from Saturday's 65 miler/3500 ft. climbing on the tandem. Getting old is a bummer.

35 miles with the Lake Erie Wheelers on their A group ride. My first crash since cyclo cross race season. The 6 survivors of the hilly section were finishing up the last few miles after dark on a Cleveland MetroPark Parkway and getting ready for the sprint to the finish. I was about 4th rider back when I hit a pothole, then another pothole and got a rear tire flat and ended up going down on the side of the road on my side. My forearm is scraped, a little burn on my hip and the bike is fine after fixing the flat. I took my night ride bike just to avoid hurting my Tarmac and Roubaix, good call!
Good thing I'm OK since I'm leaving for "climbing camp" tomorrow for three days of climbing up the hills of the Little Grand Canyon in North Central Penna. I'm looking forward to riding up big hills. My only fear is the first day of camp the leader will make a "fat guy group" and a "climber group" and I end up in the fat guy group.

46.7 miles, the temp at start was 31* and 48* when I pulled into the driveway. A little coolish but the sun was out all morning which helped raised the temp a little.

18 miles today but only after digging out my tights, base layer, full gloves, hot noggin, etc that I'd just put away for next winter.
And who was it here that said to put this stuff away last week?

45 miles with the club. Everything is very green around here in semi-Northern California. Here's a picture of one of the two tandems in today's group cresting the grade.

Got in 66 miles and about 5400' of climbing today in a little over 4 hours on the bike. Beautiful day for a ride. My lazy winter body was not ready for 4 hours on the bike.

Rode with the Colorado Springs Cycling Club on their 1st. of the season, "Tour de Latte", ride, windy but sunny a good turn out, 25-30 bikes. Only a 12 mile ride with the group, with a stop at local coffee shop, had a lemonade, yuum, sorry they don't do PIE's, rats! A total of 22 miles with the "there and back" miles added, a FUN group of riders, probably do quite a few of these runs!

So, last Sunday I crashed at 70K of a 100K ride. Its an organized ride here in Vancouver. Not a race, but many do aim for a fast time. Very strong winds for several sections. Quite disappointing as I was on pace for a good finishing time. Handlebar broke, helmet cracked, Oakleys cracked. Road Rash and sore hip. Other than that, fine.
Today was the first chance we had to ride in the mountains. A common route here is to go over Lions Gate Bridge to the North Shore, to Horsehoe Bay and then up Cypress Mountain. We went up a third of the way today. Weather was chilly initially but very nice later on. 80K for me
1st photo is view from Spanish Banks on the way to UBC
2nd photo is from the first lookout at Cypress Mountain

20 miles today suburban/rural near home. Beautiful sunny spring weather. Was able to maintain 30mph on a very slight downhill near the end - gotta love a little bit of a tailwind!

Saturday I rode sweep on the 35 mile route of my club's April Fools Ride. It was a beautiful day and we had a good turnout. Riding with the backmarkers was mostly an exercise in balancing skills, but I had fun. I did get a good hard pull in on the home stretch from the final rest stop by waiting while the last riders on my route went ahead and finishing by leading in a couple of metric century riders who were happy to have someone to draft. Report to follow when I get my pictures loaded.

I did the same 75 mile, 7500 feet ride as a few weeks back. Mid 50s all day and the requisite swirling winds. I felt better than last time, but it's not easy being the only clyde on these climbing rides.
Here, at the top of the first climb, everything is burned from the massive fire last fall. Once we got above the 5500 foot level, it was green and lush again.
I'm 2nd from right, holding the banana.

I got out twice today.
First ride was just a 2.3 mile round trip to the store for some grocieries on my old Trek.
Then I got in 20 miles on my Tour Easy. 50*F temperature with sunny skies and gentle breezes made for a great Spring morning ride. I'm going to work this afternoon hence the short ride, but the weather appears to be improving and I'm looking foreward to some longer excursions in the near future. Here's a quick picture from today.
