Bought a Rockshox Duke XC fork,,whats your thoughts
I bought a used but in VERY good condition duke XC fork. Oil on one side, air on the other with rebound adjuster. I bought the fork and new fork air pump for $110. It has 80mm of travel which is what my current fork had, RST GilaT5 preload adj only. The RST would bottom out easily when riding. I weigh 193 lbs and abused the RST fork to the point that I think it was actually slowing me down on the trail.
Who owns a Duke XC fork and do you like it. This fork will be used for XC which it was designed for.

I bought a '03 duke xc u-turn new this year. So far so good. It is dubed an all around good fork for many riding styles and I've heard alot of people say it's been fine for even some light freeride. Which is what attracted me. I was basically building an all around xc/lightfreeride bike. So far no problems at all but I may get a new spring becasue it's a little soft for me at 190 lbs. I've never bottomed it however and the plushness is also kind of nice when doing xc so I going to wait and see. Great fork though imo.

I get to try it out today for the first time on trails and I can't wait. It must be designed different than the other fork because it does feel different when riding the bike. I rode it around in my driveway and on the street and it has a different feel when turning. I think it sticks out further in front of the bike. I'll get used to it I'm sure, but I wonder how many times I"ll go down today....

What year is it? I have and 02 and love it. It is on my SS. I just got done rebuilding it with Enduro seals and now it feels better than ever. I will mention that the old fork oil had no water contamination and just a little dirt, so the factory seals do there job.

I Took the bike for a spin today to check it out and WOW. Compared to the RSTurd Gila I had before, this thing rocks. I also got a pump to set the air pressure properly and couldn't believe the difference. I guess the big hits that would bottom out and almost send me over the bars before with the RST forks are a thing of the past now. The duke handles the small bumps fine and the big hits are soft and smooth. The trail I rode has some man made 16 incher jumps that I always hit and the landing about shatters my wrist. I didn't even come close to pushing the duke to it's limits. It calls for 145-160 psi for my weight and I'm only running 150 psi which seems to be working great so far. Worst thing about this new fork is my confidence has gone up so I forsee a lot more wrecks in the future...

Would this fork hold up to a 185 mm rotor BB7 setup???? Just wondering but I don't think I'll go that route, i'm just a mere XC rider.
Also, can you buy JUST the BB7 caliper and not the rotor??? If so were???
