25 miles yesterday after a new tire replaced the frequently flat rear tire.
Did 40 miles today on a beautiful day sunny skies with light winds. And todays ride gave me a total for the month and the first week of August 153 total miles. 150 miles a week I think is doable and is my goal before the end of summer which seems to be fast approaching. There are many beautiful days ahead and I just wish I could ride everyday and add up the miles. Wish me luck.

31 miles after work and took it easy and felt great. Took a different route in the beginning and ended on the same as my normal. It was nice.

I picked up my bike from the LBS, with a new derailleur, brake pads (I have front & rear disk brakes), new cables, etc. I was all ready to get a nice ride in before the sun wend down. I reached the bottom of the hill near my house, and my front brake totally fell apart.

Fortunately, my LBS was still open at 6 pm, and they told me to bring it right in. It turned out that the manufacturer had put the wrong brake pads in the package. The ones they put in there were very similar, but not quite the same. I was lucky. The back pads could have easily fallen out too, and I would have been totally brakeless going down a hill into a 4 lane busy intersection.

Everything's fixed now, so tomorrow I'm looking forward to a 40 or 50 miler.

I rode my mountain bike 10 miles today on the bike trail. I stayed up off the saddle for the entire ride, except for the two or three minutes I sat down when I tried to keep up with the the skinny roadie that passed me. The wind, as usual around here was pushing pretty good from the south, so the northerly return leg of my ride was a breeze. haha I'll probably take the next two days off, then try to do a century on Sunday.

It's been a strange last 7 days. I only got in 3 rides, each around 40 miles. I got out for one of those rides this morning, 38 miles and 4000' of climbing in 2:40 ride time. I stopped at the top of the long 19 mile climb to eat a few wild blueberries before heading back to town. Beautiful morning for a ride, 57º to start, cool at the top and warm when I got back to town.

Well, I got my bike fixed again last night and took it out this morning for a test ride. Had a very enjoyable 55 mile ride along the coast and inland a bit.

John, like me, is likely one of the most cautious and sensible riders around.

I have not had a chance to ride long much in the last month. I have been on vacation this week and today was a free day for me, so I went on a 60-65 mile ride today. As I was coming home (around supper time) my mother-in-law passed me. I arrived home to find out that she had bought a large pizza for my family. I do not even remember what was on that pizza, but it sure tasted good.

Here we are leaving town for a pretty-much-standard Friday 40 miler. Two tandems left early because they are slower on the hills, but we didn't catch them until the coffee break. Then we split into three groups coming home, partly because I had my 11th flat of 2009.

I did 28k today after a rest day yesterday. The rest day was after my first 100k day on Wednesday.

I usually do a 20k or 30k day with a 50k thrown in now and again.

I rode for a bit less than 2 hours today (no clue about distance). My usual endurance ride course for Friday's and Saturday's. Wind was a bit of a bother at times, but the views at the tops of some hills are worth the effort.

Yippee!! I cheated the weather dude out of one rainy day so far this weekend. After getting home from work, and taking my bride out to breakfast, I got in a sweet 56 mile loop on the west side of town. I picked up the Erie Canal path at Long Pond Rd. and headed west to Brockport. Then it was North on Rt. 19 to the North Coast and turning eastward I headed in towards home. What a great morning, 56.35 glorious miles....and not a drop of rain!!!!!

Now to finish off this bowl of Perry's French Vanilla Ice Cream and this frosty mug of Pepsi and it's off to bed for a little nap.

Nighty nite.......
