So yeah.. 2nd check point into the reload ride yesterday....going down a hill... attempt to put on some back pressure... WOOOOOP! There goes my ****ing cog.
two sidewalks and a large amount of foot dragging I came to a stop.

What Suzue hubs are we talking about? Just wondering since I'm thinking of getting me a pair of Suzue ProMax.

I've been on one for around a year with much backpedaling, occasional skids, no problems. DA cog and lockring.

yeah... i hear yah... I'm just bummed that I'm bikeless for the moment... i should have replaced the hub once I was no longer a beginner to riding fixed.
I totally heard about them stripping out... totally my own negligence to blame.
No, it was not the cog that stripped out... it was the hub itself.
Yes, it was a junior.

It was good... I was only about a third of the way through when I broke down...went and met some kids back at the shop and went down to the bar.

Hahahhhahahah I bought this "city" bike once, a Fuji so not that bad a bike, I'm heading down the hill from my house, and the rear hub bearings came out! Bearings bouncing along with me down the hill! Fortunately the shop I got the bike from was right on my way, I took it in and was all embarassed my rear hub had fallen apart down this hill, and they cheerfully fixed it for me (probably very glad I didn't land on my head or something).

I'm running those suzues on my current bike. I'm poor right now and didn't expect anything but low-end results but they seem fine so far. I don't ride very hard anyway. But ask me again in a week when I eat the back of a bus.

man this kind of thing has happened to me before. That's why everytime I try and build a "beater" I end up spending way to much money and have another bike with high dollar components.

I have the same set up, had for about 2 years. Last week in the middle of noon traffic my cog spun off. I quickly went home and bought a IRO.

My first conversion had the Suzue Jrs on it and I rode them for about a year without incident.

Yeah, some prudes got all upset at the "My Other Ride Is Your Mom" under my avatar and told on me, I'm surprised they are not all over this one. Are the (lame) mods on vacation or something?
