Giant Cadex CFR 2
I don't know if the bike is a "classic", the seller said it is from around 1995.
I wish to know if it is really 95, because the bikes i saw on Bikepedia are coming with Shimano 105.
This one has Shimano RX 100 group, 21 speed.
And I wish to know the value of the bike (after cleaning and tune-up). I think these bikes were around 1200...1500 back in 90's.
Thanks

Well, -- its filthy, needs new tires --- but a lot of people like these bonded CF framesets
If I were in the market I wouldn't want to pay more than $150 for this one in that condition -- but have seen them sell for up to $350 in ready to ride condition

First thing I look for on these is the condition of the carbon tubes. I don't want to see any delamination (clear coat peeling) or separation at the lugs.
The carbon on this bike appears to be in good condition. Like @DMC707 said, I've seen these 90s lugged carbon bikes bring $300-$350 but usually with higher-end components. RX100 isn't bad but it's lower end. I'd say $250 tops for this bike.

New tires and a comprehensive cleaning and lubricating would make a world of difference --- Kinda fun too

RX100 came out in 1990 and was upgraded to 8 speed in 1994. The Giant CFR series was released in 1992, replacing the 980C. That year's version of the CFR-2 was spec'd with RX100. It was upgraded to Shimano 105SC STI in 1993. Consequently, this should be a 1992 model, which the serial number should corroborate.

Thxs. Unfortunately, that format is new to me. Not sure what to make of it. Still, I'm certain it's 1992. It wasn't available in 1991, matches the 1992 catalogue well and the 1993 version went to 105SC.

specs?
Hi T-mar, sorry to resuscitate old thread but do you have a closeup of that geometry chart? Trying to figure out what fork rake is on my '92 CFR-2, thinking of replacing with a carbon fork that has 43mm rake. Thanks!

Hello!
Interesting first post I suppose. I happen to have an exact copy of that chart, mainly as I own a CFR-3 and have been collecting all the documents (That I can find) of it. Also by the way, I've been able to get my CFR-3 down to 8.924Kg when weighed as a manufacturer does (No pedals, bottle cages etc). What have you been able to get yours down to? Eventually I reckon I can get mine below 8Kg. Due to this being my first post I appear to have restrictions on what I can post oddly.

July 2016 - 4.5 years ago basically
MAn -- i sure gave some cynical opinions - mustve been in a bad mood. That bike is not THAT filthy just a bit dusty and needing some solvent on the cassette chain and rings
Ive likely bought and sold 10 bikes between that time period and now that were worse. I dont think i was too f ar off on the valuation attempt though - for the timeframe
