Early ride on Sunday, before the temperature got too far into the 90's. 22 miles on mostly quiet streets and shaded trails around Falls Church, Annandale and Fairfax. Back home before 9:30 to watch the end of the TdF.

Yes indeed. The green signs have been there for a while.
There's a hard to find boundary stone somewhere near this spot from what I've heard...

My hybrid took me to NCAR in Boulder, CO. It was a 650ft climb in about 2.1 miles. It was intense. The workout that I logged on iMapMyRide is located here.
This is my bike on top of my friend's dad's car. He took me to Boulder.
When I arrived at NCAR:
My friend at the bike racks with his bike and mine:
The view of Boulder from NCAR.
I will upload a video of the descent on YouTube later. My top speed on the descent was 40.8mph. My previous top speed was 33mph. My front end (handlebars, fork, front wheel) was wobbling a bit from the speed. The ascent took 1 hour. The descent took about 3 minutes. The ascent was really difficult because of the intense heat.

I used to ride a lot more a couple years ago and i'm getting back into it. Today i went on my longest ride since. It was only about 12 miles but had a few decent climbs. My goal is to do 50 miles by october.

Nice! I usually do around 12-16 miles a day with a few climbs as well. I had the same goal and today was not a good day for it. I was not prepared at all. I left the house hoping to do about 20 miles round trip and after a few detours on the trail I ended up at 25 miles and was nowhere near home. No kamel pack. No energy bar. No wallet or money. One bottle of water, one bottle of FRS, a torque wrench and my house key. My phone died at the 35 mile marker. I ended up doing just shy of 50.

It was a nice ride, but the detours threw me off and I ended up taking a longer ride.

Nice pics!
Sometimes everything comes together to make a memorable ride.
Never call for help unless you need an ambulance.

Does anyone know of a good handlebar bag that sits on the stem? Something small that will hold a cell or camera?

My hybrid took me to Coors Field to see a Colorado Rockies game. They were playing against the Washington Nationals. The Rockies lost. The score was 2 against 3.

I took my hybrid to the LBS for a tune-up via the scenic route meaning go to Golden Gate Bridge then to LBS, about 13 to 14 miles. After getting to GGB, I realized I forgot my wallet and didn't even have cash to take the bus home after dropping off the bike. Doh! Had to ride home then take the direct route to LBS. Ride ended being about 26 miles.
On the way back from GGB, there is a 1 mi section about 9% grade. For those familiar with the area this was inside the Presidio on Arguello from mainside up to the gate. A roadie passed me at the bottom and I guess he tried to leave me in the dust. He kept looking back at me as if he was expecting to ditch me. He got about 15m ahead of me at the bottom but never gained any distance afterwards even when he stood on the pedals trying to get up the hill. And here I am seated keeping up with him. He got about half-way up before he pulled to the side and dismounted. I took a look back and he was doing the walk of shame.
Ok, admittedly it's not an easy climb. It's very common to see people walking their bikes up the hill which is probably a combination of tourists and locals. I've only ever climbed that hill maybe three times and the first time was quite demoralizing. I have never dismounted and walked though.

Daily 11 mile route through the lake neighborhoods. Going one way two hawks swooped down and flew beside me for a bit. Then coming back the other way, 3 whitetail deer ran across the road about 50' in front of me. Very nice.
