Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

My only singlespeed ATM. Looking for some tires with meatier tread - the Fat B Nimbles don't have enough grip for how wide they are.

(edit: added a pic with a Flite so I could be like the other cool kids)

A chrome Pista makes me oddly nostalgic.

I admire your gumption, @Carcosa, for doing this and hope that someone steps up to do the same for the geared bike thread, and also that a mod is on the ball enough to lock the '17 "post your bike pic" threads before someone inevitably posts something new in them

Meanwhile - I am going to take the liberty of posting an old pic of my bike here as a placeholder to get it on this 1st page, 'til it warms up enough for me to go out & take some new ones...

Newish. Since October. I feel like a need to put my Flite on for a photo though so I can be in this thread.

Not as great of a photograph as previous entries, but at least it was actually taken in 2018. Here is my beast of unknown origin in full winter commuter mode:

How effective are the bar mitts? What kind of gloves do you wear with them?

Seat tube angle looks steep on that georama, wondering if it’s a thing.

They are amazing. My gloves are Endura Deluge II, which do fine to about 25°F. With the bar mitts I can ride at -10°F without problem on my 4.5mi commute. I haven't had a chance to test them at even colder temps yet. Above 25°F, it's too warm to use the bar mitts and gloves, but it is very easy to remove the bar mitts.

That Georama looks like fun, I sure do love a bike with a steep seat tube.

Like that bike! What size tires are those? Do you feel the bumps a lot?

I want to build a bike like that Georama so bad but I know it would never get ridden. I'd just stare at it lovingly as it hung in my garage.

Do it! This was my daily ride for a lot of the past year. Just a couple of small modifications and it can handle just about anything. Did a century on it this fall, and a 10 mile commute this morning:
