Wow. That is pretty good. A half decent carbon frame alone runs $1000 or more (unless PF). And with Fulcrums and Rival? Not bad at all.

I'm certainly no computer expert but why are pictures on the bike store sites always low resolution?

Because people who are looking to buy a bike that expensive can't afford anything faster than dial-up.

It's OK. You can get that buildkit for sub-$1000 from GVH Bikes easy. The frame is eehhh..., and there are lots of good/better frames that can be acquired at that price point. Still, if you're not into building your own bike, it's not a bad deal. It's just not spectacular.

If this is just a good deal, please provide evidence of those deals which are greater! As one who has compared this deal with many others over the last six months, and missed out because they sold out the last time this deal was offered, I feel I am much more knowledgeable than the last four posters! Who relies exclusively on the the quality of the photo (and not the reputation of the frame builder or specs) before deciding to make a purchase? I pulled the trigger early on this one and thank God I did not listen to the ignorant comments made by the previous posters! If you do your research, you will also conclude this is indeed a great deal!

Go price it out on GVH Bikes (or eBay), and tell me that it's the best deal ever after that. I'm providing (and did provide in my original post) a direct reference. It's Ridley's low-end carbon frame. There are a zillion other carbon frames at or below $1000 that will perform just as well, if not better.

How do you compare a frame set with a complete bike build? And how can you compare a proven frame builder with a winning reputation with a non-winner?

Although Gary from GVH sounds like a great guy and provides a great product at great prices I still feel I got a better deal on the Ridley Excalibur from Competitve Cyclists. I took the top end frame set from GVH, and spec'd it out as close as I could to the Ridley Excalibur from Competive Cylcists. They are very close. However, the Ridley has a proven track record with Team Unibet and particularly with Robby McCuen. As of this time, I have not been able to find any pros who have ridden the Torelli Toccata? I hope someone can prove me wrong?

I'm looking in this range for my next ride. It hurts knowing that I missed out on the half price Pedal Force framesets. What are some other low end carbon frame/mid-range componentry bikes worth looking at?

No it isn't, the Orion is. Although the Excalibur is now mid-range in Ridley's line with the introduction of the Noah and Helium, it was still being raced by Unibet in 2006. Don't be fooled by the price; it's a great bang-for-the-buck racing frame.

I've been seeing a lot of $2000 value bikes.
If you're patient, they're out there.
It is a good price-point for those looking
to move beyond entry-level.

Compliments the competition.
Invokes a pro team on the bikes, ignoring the fact that Unibet and McEwen ride the ultra-high end frames Ridley offers. Makes sure to reiterate the place of purchase (where was that again) and then attempts a weak comparison between Torelli and Ridley, again relying on the fallacious "Pro" credentials of this bike.
That said, it's a decent deal. I'd buy a BD bike with Force on it and slap it on a CAAD9, or just buy a Cannondale if it were me, or hope some of those Pinarellos show up on chainlove again for 1200.
