Always. Even with eye protection, I got something in my eye and scratched my cornea on my tour last year. That was the second day out. I had to go to an urgent care facility, and when examined, I could not make out the "E" at the top of the eye chart. That doctor set me up with an appointment with an ophthalmologist that same day. I got medication, and continued my tour the next day. I had to wear my glasses instead of my contacts, and that day rode 35 miles with my right eye closed. I rode like that for two days. My wife met me and delivered a pair of safety glasses that went over my glasses. I did not get the vision back until I finished the tour almost two weeks later.

Yeah, wear eye protection.

Always, either regular glasses on cloudy/dark days or contacts with sunglasses on sunny days.

Man. You people worry a lot more than I do. I wear prescription glasses now so no longer have a choice, but used to love riding the years I could wear just contacts.

Funny, when it rains I take my glasses off or let them slide down my nose and look over the top of them. Water on the lenses make seeing impossible, as does fog and sweat.

I hadn't thought of them as "eye protection", but yeah, I wear sunglasses while riding.

I do 99% of the time. I'm paranoid that a rock will fly off a car tire and hit me in the eye.
We have a few roads that are heavily canopied with trees and it's hard to see when the sun starts to go down so I have to take them off. Waiting on some low-light lenses to be delivered to take care of that problem!

I always wear it. Sunglasses during the day, yellow safety glasses during the night. Not only do they protect my eyes, they are what keep my rear-view mirror in place.

Almost never, except when racing or doing intense mountain biking or longer road rides. I know it's a risk, but I prefer the feeling of being more 'connected' to the world, if that makes any sense.

I would say this is a must!

I also ride motorcycles and despite loving the wind in my face, it doesn't take much to ruin your vision. Like everyone says, you'll definitely rethink using sunglasses after the first time you get smacked by a fly or bee in the face.

It just makes me glad that I wore my sunglasses or if it's dark and gray my clear glasses. In addition, if you get caught out in a rain shower/storm it's nice to have something covering your eyes.
ALWAYS! When the sunshine is strong, Oakley Half Jackets with Gold Iridium Polarized lenses. When the light is low or cloudy or vastly overcast, Oakley G30 lenses. Great combo. Gotta protect the eyes from... anything that can hit 'em, bugs, particulates, dryness like we have in Colorado, and the UV's.

Since I'm pretty near-sighted and no interest in contacts, always. But there was one time it was raining so hard I couldn't see anything through my glasses so I took them off. But then the rain really stung my eyes, so not sure what was worse.

Because she works at Lowes, and didn't have time to look and research, I just had her get some at Lowes. They were the 3M over the glasses safety glasses. Thy worked fine. I wouldn't win any style awards, but they worked for the trip. I went back to contacts after the trip and regular cycling glasses or sunglasses though. If I wear my glasses, I will wear these again.

It makes sense if by connected, you mean actual pieces of the world hitting your eye. Seriously, start wearing eye protection. One day it will save your eye. I had a small pice of debris that scratched my eye that got in anyway, but I didn't get hit in the eye by a rock or piece of mud, or anything worse.

Yep, all the time.

Been hit numerous times by bugs and god knows what else while riding. Have several pairs of Oakleys. Photochromatic lenses for modest sun and dusky days and darker lenses for the brighter days. It works for me.

I never ride anywhere without impact-resistant glasses. At least once every other ride something hits those lenses, a bug, grit in the air, something. My glasses are Carrera Rx's. They've been to Helenback.

Never ride without eye protection. In the 80's I managed to get a small insect in my eye and it ended up irritating me for several weeks before it healed up. I just use inexpensive S&W safety glasses but they work great for me. Most days I wear the sunglass model but also have a pair of non-tinted ones for days when it is heavily overcast.

I usually do. Always in daytime. At night, depends on humidity, traffic and terrain. I worry more about gravel being kicked up by vehicles so I usually wear 'em unless the weather is so bad they're fogged or misted up and I can't see.

I wear tinted or smoked safety glasses with bifocals that I get from the industrial supply store. They fit great and are only $6 a pair . When they get scratched I can throw them away. They last at least a year and I always have a back up set. I wouldn't think of riding without them, similar to a helmet. Safety , especially with eyes and skull , is important. Joe

What model Rudy Project are these? I see on their website that you have to go to a dealer for progressives. Did you get them through a bike shop or optometrist?

In many cases I consider them as essential as a helmet.

On the road, I am going fast enough that things like bugs can hit my face pretty hard, and on the trail I am often getting whacked by bushes and branches.

If I am just tooling around town, not such a big deal to go without them.
