They actually were stock on many more brands. I've had a few of them, sold them on ebay. They show up on ebay continually.

If all you can find is the body of the post (the main part with the setback, a condition likely if it's found in a co-op or someone's scrounge box) you can piece together the rest with seat clamp parts from a regular Laprade-type post and a seat QR found elsewhere. I had one turned down to 25.4 to fit a Gitane tandem stoker position.
