Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I jump rope. I have been since I was 6. 9 Years I've been jump roping. I have actually competed in Nationals each year, and scored in the top ten in numerous events each year. You can imagine how it helps my cardiovascular health-a LOT.

120+ daytime highs are a bit much to take, especially when the roadbed can push 135+ and the mercury passes 90 by eight AM.

The cycling season is almost inverted in Palm Springs because of the heat, so I cut the saddle time to nocturnal intervals two days a week and a "it's still dark out when I start" ride on Saturdays.

I'm contemplating picking up spontaneous human combustion as a secondary sport is I guess what I'm saying. It's got to be more fun than swimming.

I used to surf and snowboard a lot, but since I started cycling I haven't even thought about those.

I have been a high school coach for a long time though I'm not currently coaching. Football, wrestling (off and on as needed) and track and field (worked primarily with throwers). Didn't have a whole lot of time to do much just for myself.

Competitively weight-lifted for awhile. Was starting to train shot put again but decided against after some severe tendinitis in my arm. (Due to a motorcycle accident I really can't afford any debilitating situations in my right arm at all, it's basically all I've got).

Still have my SCUBA but my wife and I haven't dove in depressingly long time. Have played rugby.

All said and done at this point in my life cycling monopolizes my active sports participation time.

Was my primary, but after starting out just to lose some ballast, I've gotten a bit addicted to the bikes.

Cycling. Maybe when I have help around here raising my son it will become primary. Running is easier to fit in.

Cycling used to be my secondary sport, with climbing primary. Now road cycling is primary, followed by bike touring, skate skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking & climbing.

Cool. I only raced cats for a couple of seasons, but the first time I stepped on one we won the State Championships. Five bullets, one second, the latter because I took the helm after the first beat. I prefer I14s.

Paddling, diving, I14's--the last pic is me.

Please, a little more specificity! Where are those places? Particularly the one in central California. You've had an awesome history of climbs.

Lots of cool stuff in here - that practice lap looked pretty fast. The drumming was energetic too.

Myself, basketball (tallmantim) although yoga (although not a sport as such) is becoming more serious since I started after doing my back last year.
