Basically, never? Settlement of the Americas - Wikipedia
White America seems to think otherwise for some reason.

Ok here's a few more.
This old Peugeot was just a frame when I got it. I stripped it clean, removed the braze-ons, installed rivnuts on the downtube for a water bottle holder, and had a finished it with an automotive base clear paint.
It has Phil Wood hubs, White industries freewheel, and H + Son "arch-type" rims, origin 8 headset and stem, Tange fork, Velo Orange bottom bracket, Sugino crank. I kept the Mafac centre pulls but used Koolstop cross pads and TRP levers. Since these pic's, I've added MKS classic road pedals, toe clips and straps.
How come the pics I upload are so small?

I got some new stuff coming in, gotta set the saddle right again and spray the front rim with a protective coating before adding the tube and wheel. I've got a new crankset coming in and will be replacing the bottom bracket. All I've got to do is get some lizard skin handle bar tape, get the chain and bottom bracket, and possibly a front break. Once I get all that it'll be done.

Edit: Is that a single fixed rear hub?
