Remove the front wheel and look into the steerer. With a bit of luck the missing wedge is still stuck in there. The front brake bolt will have stopped it from dropping out.

That‘s EXACTLY what had happened. Found it by using a long stick. Greased it thoroughly. 👌

This suggests a possible rebuild but the frame even has the correct New 105 headset and the seldom seen non-aero version of the New 105 SLR brake levers, so everything may be OEM and the apparent anomalies may be attributable to European market preferences and/or cost concessions to hit a target price.

I'll have to defer on a value,as I have no appreciation for European market conditions.

Even though it will likely reveal nothing, I'd appreciate the serial number(s). TIA.

To be honest, I like these even more. The toe clips I will keep. Who knows what the future will hold for me and this bike.

The MKS touring pedal is pretty versatile, the OEM pedals with the special clips... there is value in the clips as the Dura-Ace versions were aluminum and did not live long, 600 pedals and below get sacrificed for them.

So these are valuable?

In a different Forum, someone posted a SUPER TOUR bike from the 1989 Motobecane catalog.

This catalog is from 1989 and the paint on the frame seems to match mine.
Is there any conclusion we can derive from this finding?

One last hint I could find in a classified ad:

The retail price may have been close to 2,000 Deutschmarks back in the day.
Is this plausible?

Still no clue as to which model it actually is.

Nice! The red tape makes it.
