Time to Weigh In---Your bike, not you!
I'm really curious what a bike weighs. My old Giant road bike is 35# with maybe a pound or 2 of gear on it. I'm still looking for another road bike and I'm seeing claims by individuals in the range of 20 to 25 pounds. For example-2002 Giant OCR 3=22#. Is that real, or wishful thinking? Please, let me know what you have and what it weighs without a bunch of gear on it. I'm not looking at high end bikes or older vintage (like my Giant) so let's not start a bragging war here, Thanks

My steel bike is about 17.5lbs in a size 54. It is 13 years old.
Lots of mid-priced carbon bikes are 20lbs or thereabout especially aero bikes. The Trek Domane comes to mind at 22lbs. Components have more to do with the final weight than the frame material.

Just my method: When buying a new bike, my decision is driven by the bike's purpose, how I intend to use it. I think about what I want the bike to do, and look for that bike. And then the bike weighs about what it needs to weigh.

Bruce Gordon Rock and Road Tour weighs ~37 lb with pump, racks, some tools, spare tube, half full water bottles.

My Museeuw which is carbon frame and fork according to my scale is 16.8lbs, I used the scale to weight 3 packages I was taking to fedex and mine agreed with them to within .1lb. The Museeuw was built with parts from my Carrera Volans which was bigger then I would have liked in the top tube and that with steel frame and fork was only 18.5lbs. This is all inclusive of pedals and cages, both used aluminum post, stem, and handlebars and are sram force. If I put a decent bit of effort into it I would have no trouble getting the carbon bike down below 16.
My steel rock lobster is 20lb, not certain why its so heavy but it handles amazingly and rides like a lighter bike.
Blue gravel touring bike with aluminum frame, carbon fork sits at 22lbs. This is with heavy duty rims, triple butted spokes, and tiagra parts.
Giant Perigee from 93, 4130 cromoly frame and fork with 8sp ultegra is 25lbs, this is full 6400 including the aero post and a decent wheelset.
My mtb is the heavy one of the bunch at 31lb with 11sp, aluminum frame, suspension fork.
I'd have to weight it but I'd guess my wife's cross bike with stock wheels and tiagra kits, fsa crank, basic tires was somewhere close to mid 20s. I've since put a carbon campy crank on it which was only 100.00 so worth the upgrade, and the wheels I built for it took off about 2lbs so I'm guessing its 21ish lbs and I will be adding better tires when the current ones wear out.
I helped a girl get a new road bike with a very limited budget and in need of a really small size. For 250 off amazon she got a 14sp tourney STI lever equipped bike with bolt on wheels that still weighted about 27lbs.
The idea of a 30+lb road bike seems kinda odd to me but I'm guessing gas pipe tubing like cheap schwinns had, steel rims, cheap tires, lots of cheap plated spokes, and mostly steel parts would lead to a 30+ lb bike.

My bikes are all 63-65cm in size and weigh 20.5-25#. They vary based on intended use- a bike with front and rear racks weighs more than one without.

My bikes are all 63-65cm in size and weigh 20.5-25#. They vary based on intended use- a bike with front and rear racks weighs more than one without.
