SRAM DZero power meter

Hello folks, I am looking to get one of these but per their site it states:
  • Compatible Crankset - Must use Quarq DZero DUB crankset and SRAM DUB bottom bracket

Any idea why you would need a DUB crankset and bottom bracket to use it?
I am guessing it's because most 8-bolt spider cranksets are DUB, and they are not even making BB30 cranksets anymore, but I do have a quarq 8-bolt BB30 crankset that this would seemingly bolt right up to.
Also any calibrations needed when you swap PM spiders? from what I recall the 3-bolt ones needed something but I think the newer 8-bolts don't, not 100% positive though.

Thanks!

oh and last time I asked Sram a question via email, I never heard back, so I'm turning here instead.
