Check out these crazy intersections. Some of them look like they were inspired by a bowl of spaghetti. I'm lucky my eyes aren't permanently crossed just looking at them.

I say if they can route automobile freeways like those examples... a narrow bike freeway would be a piece of cake to route though the city, no problem.

Oh grow up hippie. Do you not understand that the engineering improvements to highway interchanges depicted in those photos improve traffic flow, thereby reducing pollution and improving quality of life?

Can't agree with that, while the new system help the previous problem, they don't really fix anything, they just encourage people further. That's a lot of traffic, no problem we'll build you better and larger roads. But they also get filled so overall nothing has changed, except more cars and more roads.

One of my favorite traffic quotes:
"Trying to cure traffic congestion by adding more capacity is like trying to cure obesity by loosening your belt."

Just look at the acreage that is getting wasted, amazing, and in a couple of those just so someone can go right or left a few feet from where they started but after traveling hundreds of feet.
It's like the debate in Buffalo, we have this thing called the skyway...see thumbnail...that wastes so much water front property, they are finally talking of tearing it down.

I remember giving directions on a highway in Israel, 'your going to be coming to an intersection that looks like a giant stick figure, you need to go down his spine, around his head then out his left arm.'

that skyway is completely absurd. what's the point? i don't see the rationale for an elevated highway if you're not going to construct something under it.

I don't see my quality of life depicted in any of those pictures, except that they draw more cars off the surface roads so they can kill each other up there instead of killing me.

Yeah, the quality of life is shown by being stuck on an elevated highway.

Yeah some of those interchanges are in atlanta and still are not enough to keep from congesting every weekday from 5 till 7. I once saw a car roll off one of the overpasses on that junction because he tried to swerve around backed up traffic.
