In Boulder, myself and two other cyclists had to bail off the Broadway Bike path when some confused old man came driving up it.
And I once saw a Boulder cop stop another fool doing the same.
I've seen photos twice of similar incidents on the new US36 Bike Path near the Davidson Mesa.
And what is really stupid is that in order to get onto it, the driver must get out and open a gate that has two "No Motor Vehicle" signs attached to it.

There is no road rage here, and lumping all drivers together is prejudicial and ignorant in the extreme.
Do you want all cyclists to be judged by the ninja salmon running red lights at high-traffic intersections?
I know in this day of extremes, this seems like a radical notion ... but even if one party in an argument is irrational (as this driver seemed to be, at least briefly) ... it is okay for other parties to remain rational. No need to go off in an opposite extreme of irrationality.

I saw this on the news and hoped someone would post it. I haven't been able to find any follow up on it as to what happened to the idiot, does anyone else know?

I've personally seen a car drive into a separated bike lane. But the lane was separated only by flexible bollards. On Youtube there's another car drive into a bike lane lines with a curb. The cyclist in front just stopped and told the motorist to back up and get out. I've been to that lane and it does look confusing for some newbie motorists. All the lanes need are posts at the middle of the entrance to the bike lanes at intersections.
A third video shows the Toronto Transit Commission crew hoist a car out of the public transit rail tunnel meant for streetcars only. Now the TTC has installed gates to stop cars from entering the tunnel. Today I saw an SUV almost making his turn into the tunnel but stopped and blocked traffic as he was trying to make a corrective maneuver.
I like the design of the Chicago bike lane in the video. It's narrow and has a concrete wall on one side as so create damage to the cars for dumb drivers. A ticket will only make the driver angry at the city. Car damage will teach himself a lesson.

Maybe...maybe not. Depends on the exact model of that Toyota....but many are 1.7to 1.8m wide. Fiat 500s range from 1.6m to 1.8m depending on which exact model.

The "calm, patient and law abiding driver" chose to drive down a bike lane that is clearly physically separated from vehicle traffic, in their attempt to expedite their daily commute.

I had to chuckle at the comment by the Active Transportation Alliance guy. He said "as more and more people" ride bikes. Reality in Chicago is a bit different, with the cycling modal share being absolutely flat since 2012.
To be generous, or pedantic, since the population is growing a stagnant cycling modal share does mean there are slightly more riders, but we're not talking a big population increase (10%).

Chicago ACS mode share has gone from 1.3% +/- 0.1% in 2012 to 1.6% +/- 0.1% in 2016, a statistically significant increase.
But ACS doesn’t count the people on bkes who commute by multiple modes UNLESS the bike leg was the longest.
So if you ride your bike to/from a CTA station, put your bike on a CTA bus, or ride a DIVVY, most likely you are NOT counted by ACS.
This LIMITATION in ACS leads to a dramatic UNDERCOUNT of people on bikes.
Less than 50% commute by car alone, the rest are car free or car lite.
That’s the actual reality in Chicago.

Very few bike lanes in Athens, Greece -- and the few that exist usually become parking spaces, but my neighborhood does allow cycling on the coastal sidewalk.... and even that doesn't stop some drivers from taking short cuts like the lady below which decided to take the sidewalk since there was less traffic! Too bad she didn't know that it narrowed and eventually led to a dead end for vehicles!

What I don't like about these "protected" bike lanes is when somebody does something like that, the bicyclists coming up on it get stuck or have to retrace a ways. There's a pretty thin line between protected and confined.
