Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Both bikes are great and very likely more bike than most of us will ever need so from a performance point of view you cannot go wrong with either one. The one to concentrate on is the one that has geometry that fits you best. All else being equal having a well fitting balanced fit on a bike makes everything about thecruding experience better.

Either frame is overkill for almost everyone outside of a pro level rider. Select the one that fits right.

Too close to call. I would likely choose the Tarmac because I know Spesh's warranty is solid because I have been there.
Because they are both the pinnacle of what a racing bike should be, you need to ride each and decide for yourself.
Oddly, it will likely come down to what shape fits your eye better and what color you prefer, provided subtle geometry difference doesn't sway you either way.
What the other guys said.

The reason I ride Trek bicycles is because the local bike shop carries them and they have a good warranty dept. most companies put out a good product in terms of performance. The aspect that divides the men from the boys is warranty service.

Completely agree. Me personally, I kind of got over the exclusivity thing. I am ok riding any decent race bike. I don't need a Pinarello or Colnago. The latest 'fad' in my group are people throwing down for Canyon bikes. Difference between any of the top bikes in a fast group ride? Less important than a good night's sleep.
In America, I want an American bike not because its better than bikes out of Europe but because of warranty. Specialized or Trek makes sense in that regard. Maybe if you are on a first name basis with your Giant dealer you are ok. But seems like its harder to get warranty support of out Europe if you live in the US.
With carbon, a warranty is pretty important...unless you steal the bike off Ebay for 30% of retail.
