NO IMHO but the market for verified limited edition or art bikes by major Italian makers is a bit wonkey. As a bike I would but it at a liberal $1400-1600 to a motivated buyer. As for limited Art value considering history if legit with real provenance who know's? I would suspect this bike if legit will sell in the $4000-$5000 range to the right semi crazy buyer.

I'd never pay that. The thing about Bianchi bikes is that,IMHO, with the exceptions of the Centenario and the MAX tubed Proto it is really hard to justify dumping a large money into a frame that is little different from a work a day frame. All this has going for it a fancier brake bridge and that gorgeous chrome Cinelli crown. It isn't likely to ride any difference than your average Special or Formula 2 tubed Bianchi, if you were to actually ride it.

As for collector value? I doubt you'd ever get what you paid for this, especially with $360 shipping, does it come by private jet? Also in the collector realm, and the Specialissma X3 isn't in the US catalog so I know nothing about it, is this bike in original configuration as shown?

Don’t buy it if you don’t think it’s worth it. If everyone agrees, it won’t sell.

Sometimes you see ads like this because the person is pretending it’s for sale with a spouse, or they might not know the market, or they might be trying to get lucky, or they might have two, and they’re trying to make another look like a better deal. Who knows.

The Campy components are worth about 3K. The X3, a year or so before the X4. 16? Hah. 4? Possible.

A 50th group, truly NOS and in the special Campy presentation case, went for 3500 recently on eBay. This one has marks, like on the seatpost, rotted brake hoods, and just is not anything like the 3500 group. I'd say maybe 1400 for the campy group. That frame is nice, maybe another 1000. The bit about Bianchi presenting the bike to the movie director doesn't sound crazy, so maybe pad it another 500 for someone who valued that. Maybe 3000. What do I know? Maybe Italy's #1 investment banker is sitting there looking at it right now, hitting F5 every few seconds.

Back in the day, a co-worker totaled his car and was fighting with the insurance company over it's value.

He found out that the insurance company used Autotrader to gauge value so he put up a bunch of fake ads of his car with high asking prices and....it worked.

He got an extra thousand out of the insurance company.
