Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Even datlas wants carbon, power, and electronic shifting. His wife won't let him.

seeds lives back in the stone age of cycling. When people smoked cigarettes and rode bikes.

And telemarketers almost never leave messages, so that eliminates them.

What gets me is having to change my phone habits so radically, and even buy a second phone line just to take 99% bogus calls I get from my public phone number that's posted on the net. I think there was a thread where people asked why nothing is done about these calls, and someone mentioned that politicians all use junk calls for their own campaigns, so they don't want to do anything that would affect their right to bombard us with robo calls every election season. Which makes a lot of sense when you think about it.

Yeah but the eye candy trumps the music most of the time. It doesn’t hurt to enjoy the view.

You should get some pink Rapha gear.

Along those lines, I just ordered some more Rapha gear. It was on sale and a good deal on needed stuff. Nabbed a LS merino base layer and some gloves. Also some winter tights (no pad!), but they only had an XL and I'm not sure how the sizing will shake out; I might need an L.

If you get enough Rapha gear, does it make it easier to do the bidon flip??

Prolly.

Sadly, I have only water bottles. I almost ordered a bidon this morning to get me over the free shipping threshold, but then I opened a chat with service, to see if I could add the tights to the order placed last night, and they offered me a free shipping voucher, instead. Bidons and flips will have to wait for another time.

Perfect. I'm a retrogrouch when it comes to that. The trainer, no matter how long you're on it, serves one purpose, and that's to train. It's perfect in the cold garage, with the fan on me, and radiant heat on my feet. The fun comes when you let the tension off the back tire, and call it a session.

Awesome. It served a purpose. I'm glad she's doing well, and living it up in a more relaxed manner.

On last Saturday's hard club ride, I somehow injured/strained my popliteus muscle. It's a small muscle behind the knee. It's less sore now, but it's something I have never injured before and I honestly don't know how I even injured it since it's an external rotator of the foot/tibia and cycling should not really use it.

The main symptom is mild pain/discomfort behind my knee when leg fully extended/knee locked.

Of course it’s not the primary reason silly, but it’s definitely an added incentive on some days.

Um, you’re not asking us for a medical remedy are you?

Nah, I know to just stretch it out and give it some time. But thanks for the sympathy.

I’ve got power on my CF bike but no electronic shifting, but...
power and electronic shifting on my steel/aluminum trike.

I’m still working on electronic shifting on the CF machine. May happen soon...

Actually, I don't really want carbon or power. I would not mind an eTap AXS drivetrain for the Habanero, though. Maybe some day.

Think of all the money you'll save on shift cables, in the long-run.
