The more I search for a new lugged road frame, the better a Waterford looks
Have been looking for a 55 or 56 cm Road Frame to set up with a New Shamino 6800 Group, and in all honesty I think there is no going wring with a Waterford 22 Series with Steel Fork.
My reasoning is.
I get custom measurements.
I get to choose some geometry to soften the ride.
The company is in the USA, so should there be a problem, there should be some way to actually get service.
Choice of color, decals, head badges, etc.
Deliever would be 8-9 weeks.
Price seem not too bad.
Am I forgetting something?

Not really, but it does sound expensive.

Sounds like a solid choice. Waterford made my Rivendell Roadeo and I can attest to it being a kick ass bike; very well made.....6800 on mine too.

I've got a Waterford and really like the ride. I upgraded to a Reynold Ouzo Pro cf fork several years ago. The complete weight with pedals and cages is 18.2 lbs.

Waterfords are great, but boy are they expensive. You can get a used high end "vintage" steel bike from the late 80s to early 90s with lugs for $200-500.

OP wants a custom frame with lugs. Waterford is a great choice, period. There's a reason they make basically all of the production U.S. made lugged frames around -- Rivendell, Boulder, etc.
They also have impeccable customer service. This is a once in a lifetime bike.

My Boulder was made by Waterford. Very nice work. Installing the bottom bracket was a revelation, 'oh...so that's how a properly machined BB shell is supposed to feel.'

My next bike will be steel- probably an old DeRosa. Really enjoying my aluminum Klein.... It's been a long time since I've ridden steel- but I know if the AL feels so good,the steel will be even better. My CF bike is going bye-bye.

A friend inherited a waterford r33 it is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo gorgeous. I recently had a decent windfall but not waterford decent.

Totally sweet looking, but the optionals add more and more to the price. You may want to consider looking at other custom builders in both steel and titanium. If I was going to get a custom metal frameset in the $3000-$4000 range, I'd definitely shop around and think about steel, stainless steel, and titanium.

I'm not saying anything negative about the OP, but if he lives where I think he does(Arrowhead Lakes), he's not hurting for cash. A close friend has a home near there, and it's very nice.
