Back to "The Hopes and Dreams of Used Bike Salesmen!"

Dolan track bike, fixed gear. Size small (50cm) - $750

https://columbus.craigslist.org/bik/...176371691.html
Selling my Dolan track bike. Size small (50cm) Im 58 and it fits me great. It is fixed gear but wheels have braking surface if you wanted to add brakes. Frame and fork have holes drilled for brakes. Aluminum frame and fork. Lots of cool parts on it, quality stuff. Bike was built and hardly ridden, I have too many. It has less than 100 miles on it.

Perfect condition!
Any questions at all just text me
Six one four, 625, seven123
I imagine he's answering LOTS of questions along the lines of "why mount a giant porteur rack to a track bike", or "how well does it stop without brakes while loaded?"

Heh, just you wait. A handful of "track" bikes popped up on the list today, with nary a brake between them. This one made me 😆, because I can't figure out where in the process of putting this together they felt a porteur rack was a good idea. Blackburn rack on the back? I get it, some folks want to commute fixed. But, this too small bike with a too long stem, chewing into that rack's useful space? indeed.

Just throw them on any old donor frame and sell the whole lot at Ebay prices!

Esp. with a 5-speed.

Dude should have used mismatched rims, just to complete the "dog's breakfast" effect.

It popped up on a Hail Mary search for "superbe". I nabbed a late superbe pro RD for cheap and I was trying to get a feel for what's available, and the type of bike you'd find those components on. A Ross signature 294s was an unexpected result, thanks to those pedals.
Don't the pedals and the saddle account for half the market value of this bike build?

So was the seller's right hand offset to the right one key? Or is it auto-correct poetic justice?

Either you don't use craigslist, you're a bot, or you're from mars. Some sellers will write in their ad, "yes, it's still available!!" in attempt to stop the spam. It doesn't work. We still get trolls trying to get our info, like phone numbers. Maybe you have no idea how bad it can get, or you would never ever (ever!) ask a seller, "is it still available?" Yes, it's still available! That's why it's listed.

[I answer his two detailed questions here which could have easily been answered had he looked at the pics in the ad.]

Hope this has been helpful for all your future craigs correspondence.

What has been happening to me a lot is that on my higher-priced bikes I am getting phishing replies that go like this: "I need it!" or "I want it!" along with "Please respond to this message at my gmail address, whatever@gmail.com, because I dont look at messages from craigslist." Sounds like a real attempt at circumventing the security of the craigslist emailing system to me. Those emails just get dumped by me.

Even worse is Facebook marketplace where the "I'm interested" or whatever button for potential buyers sends the "Is this still available" message automatically.

In my defense:

Facebook marketplace sellers are exponentially more likely to fail to remove a sold item from the marketplace, compared to Craigslist sellers. They also generally fail to include useful information, like bike size.

phew. anything with those awful suicide brake extenders and stem shifters (or top tube mounted shifters??) is a BSO. that one looks like it has steel cotter pin cranks, and steel 27" rims, too, even more BSO. at most $80 cuz its clean.

Anything with "FIRENZE" on the downtube is a BSDT - bicycle-shaped death trap. You only see them in this country because scads of local appliance store owners in bad checked suits GAVE them away with the purchase of a console color TV or automatic dishwasher or what-not, in the '70s and '80s. Why? Because the bikes didn't pass CPSC standards and it was illegal to sell them here (but they couldn't stop anyone from giving them away). One of the most memorable and notorious, for his, er, "colorful" commercials, was TV Lenny here in Madison; ironically he recently came out of retirement to open an E-bike store, JUST ahead of the wave.

That's gold Jerry! Gold!

Or is them fightin' words?

Nicest Bike in 4 Counties
$100

Yup you wont find a nicer bike around. This one is in fine working condition with good tires front and rear.
Shifting mechanisms function properly through all 21 speeds. Not like your pappys ole janky 10 speed.
Brakes are in good working condition.
Seat is in good condition as you can see.

It does have some typical dings (see pics) and the bottle holder could use a refresh (see pic).

Optionally, you can make motorcycle noises when you ride.

Yes, a Magna Great Divide. Better than your pappy's janky ten speed.

its because the bike is so fast he has a tough time making it stand still for the picture.

Best short story; GO!

2 St Etienne ten speed bikes - $125 (Grove City)

Obviously bent fork on the taller frame...

and the shorter frame too!

need some tlc, but ride-able new tubes and tires on both bikes 75.00 each or 125.00 for both

bicycle frame material: aluminum
bicycle type: road
condition: good
frame size: 23"
make / manufacturer: st etienne
suspension: none (rigid)
wheel size: 27 in

Why do both bikes have bent forks?
