Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

The racing season is pretty much over, but during the season, I'm sure there are lots of races in Conn. When I lived and raced in Boston, I recall a few races I did down there. A couple of them were really in the woods as I recall. One of my buddies who raced XC said it reminded him of mountain bike racing more then a cross course. YouTube will have a lot of cross racing videos. You can always search there for cross races in Conn. I do know that there is a CT state championships video up there.

You should check out USA Cycling and BikeReg to see what races are available. But again, since 2009 just wrapped up, you may not see anything until next summer. The clubs that are hosting races are the ones that are going to be active ones in the cross scene. USA Cycling is useful for getting team/club listings as well. Google can be your friend here too.

Good luck. It's a great sport, I hope you'll enjoy it.

Very active cyclocross scene in Connecticut - have seen races in Hartford, Southington and out in Mansfield Hollow, near UConn.

Google will point you in the right direction. Lots of links.
