Lemond Tourmalet 853 Reynolds Steel Frame Road Bike
Forgive the naive question, but, I purchased a Lemond Tourmalet 853 Reynolds Steel Frame Road Bike yesterday, and I was wondering if there was any way of determining what year it was.
Thanks

Maybe try looking up the serial on the vintage trek website? I’m assuming that it’s not mid to late 1990s or older.

The Lemond catalogs of that era are on the vintage Trek site linked above. Seems that they changed the paint scheme each year, which makes it easier to figure out the exact date.

In 1995, Reynolds introduced 853 (and a non-heat-treated version, 631, two years later); the world's first commercial air-hardening steel for bicycle frames and Jamis was one of the first brands to use it in 1997.
I also found a nice offering on ebay described as:
The LeMond Tourmalet 1996 comes with Shimano RSX components, including a chromoly stem, a Tange-Seiki Passage headset and dual-control Shimano RSX STI shifters. Steel is Reynolds 853. The Tourmalet 1996 has 7 speeds and has a Shimano RSX derailleur. It comes with Continental Super Sport Ultra tires (622mm x 23mm) and Mavic CXP 10 rims.

And welcome to the club. You can't go wrong with a Lemond.
Once you get your 10 post, give us some pics of it.

Do you give tours, James? You've got enough bikes to open a bike shop. Or a museum. Congrats, you must be the happiest man on earth, surrounded by all those beautiful bikes.

Scroll down a bit to get to the LeMond catalogs. The groupset should help determine age if it hasnt been replaced.
Edited to say year doesn't really matter in your case. 853 LeMonds are timeless! The later years into the late 2000s they changed up somethings, like moving the Zurich to a carbon fiber/steel mixup.

I've also got this special Lemond. And another Zurich that has been "on loan" to a friend for years.
I love my Lemonds!

The paint on mine is good enough, one chip on the seatstay. Will buy some red nail polish to touch it up eventually. Paint looks much deeper red in person, my various cameras are not very good at capturing the true deepness and richness of the color:

Got that from a neighbor. It originally came from a Sports Authority store that went out of business. She had two of them and I wish I had grabbed the other one too.

OP I think you're really going to like the "new" Lemond. I'm always on the lookout for an old Billato Brothers Lemond.

Keep your eyes open. A few months back, this one was on Los Angeles CL for a several weeks at $375, I just didn't have the room for it. Kicking myself now for not making some room for it:

You can blame Greg himself for the paint job. He had a handful of these made for friends and associates. They called themselves The Gentleman's Poodle & Grouse Society. They have since morphed into another active team.
I lucked out and got my hands on this last year. Was able to trace the lineage back to a pro named Tim Swift and also had raced for the Saturn Pro Team in the mid 90s.
Here's a pic I got from another team member with Greg, the team, and one of the bikes.

To the OP, if you get to the point where you can post a pic, some of the folks here can (I bet) id the frame by sight. Or, google Lemond Tourmalet, select images on your browser, and click on Tourmalets that have similar color schemes to yours. Some of the pics will have the model year identified. Or, you can go through each year of the catalogs.
You can also narrow it down by looking at the groupset, and technology. Threadless headset? Should be 2001-2003. If you can id the Shimano groupset (e.g. an ultegra 9 speed) then you can bracket the time frame (1997 or thereafter, for the example groupset). See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shimano
