Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ah. Comes back to the "what do I know".

I was confusing max with threshold. Using the various online calculators I'm getting a Z2 topping out at around 150 if I put in a threshold heart rate of 165.

I could probably see that, but I guess I need to do another test, eh?
I forget how it works, but my LT HR is 159 and here are my zones:

On the Strava front: I don't do follows or kudos, generally speaking. I use it to keep track of my rides, and a little friendly competition. If this (reciprocity) is important
to you, please don't follow or kudos me. I don't want to step on any toes
Actually, I use RideWithGPS to track my rides, because I like the platform better, and then transfer over to Strava

A heartrate of zero is considered "recovery"?. Are you sure?

Training is testing and testing is training. You'll get a better feel as you start using the HR for what you can sustain and what your actual zones ar.

Flyby alert! Whilst riding this eve I passed a pack of six cyclists coming the other way. The most I've seen in ages.

It was out there a day, they weren’t even really ready to sell yet, it said “coming soon”

we see the owners every day walking our dogs, so it was easy to make a deal with them. They are excited to be selling to us and we’re excited to have this house m, we’ve loved it for years

If you want a max heart rate, go do a 40k tt with temps around 100. I figured my days of seeing a max hr were long gone, but I was wrong. Thank heavens I don't look at heart rate other than on active recovery days, otherwise I would have scared the living **** out of myself.

oof. that just sounds like just under an hour of complete and utter self inflicted torture. These days I'll settle for just riding 40km in one ride.

Only the first 40 minutes were self inflicted torture, the last 18+ minutes were worse. I'm looking forward to next year. I think I can drop a few more minutes off.

Never went as far as three weeks. Since the rain has come back, it's back to once a week or maybe every five days. I cut a lawn yesterday. Probably should have done one of the other ones too, but I had other things to do.
