Campy Zonda vs Proton
My LBS offered me a good deal on 2005 Zondas or Protons. Is one really better than the other?

also consider the protons have centaur level quality hubs and zondas have record level hubs. unless you do lots of serious climbing, i'd go zondas, which are identical to the eurus except for stainless spokes vs. aluminum.

I have 2004 Protons and they are smooth as silk after 4000 miles. I have not looked at the Zonda's so I cannot offer a comparison, but for me it would come down to cash versus weight.
Are a 150 grams worth the additional cost?
Do they offer greater stability for your riding style?
Do they look good on your bike?

piggy-backing on this thread to spare dupes...
need input:
i weigh 140 lbs. and ride in the bay area - so plenty of hills and wind. mostly good road surface. new wheels are going on a 2003 cannondale caad4 while deciding on a new frame. been focusing on climbing since that's my weak spot. twisty descents, too.
while the zondas do seem a better deal - and look hotter - should i be concerned with crosswind hitting those bladed spokes and taller profile, particularly at my weight?
protons or zondas? these would be year-round wheels.
thanks in advance.
