Black Friday Cycling Deals

Anyone else looking forward to some Black Friday deals on bikes and related gear? Perhaps I'm jumping the gun a bit as it's still a little more than 2 months away. Last year I didn't budget accordingly and missed out on a few really choice sales. However, this year I'm already setting some loot aside in anticipation of consumerism at its finest.

What are you GASSING for this year? I seem to have a thing for tires.

I’ve got my eye on the Checkpoint ARL 5 but I don’t know if I’ll be ready to bite the bullet on it by that point. At least Trek has a spring sales event with similar discounts if I don’t get it then.

I've been saving up for one of those Swiss-made, platinum presta-schrader adapters.

I've heard those are the best! Someday I'll upgrade from my carbon fiber one to platinum.

This. I was looking at the ARL 3 but I can't bring myself to throw down $1700 when I have a perfectly functional bike already....(I know I know...what kind of cyclist am I if I put things like mortgage and food in front of a fancy new bike? )

The whole Checkpoint line though.....drool...

Yeah, those carbon-fiber units are sweet, but I worry about that whole "catastrophic failure" thing, so I got my heart set on hand-tooled platinum (I hear they're made in the Rolex plant !). Maybe we can get us up a forum group-buy, and save us all some skrilla !!!

I'm hoping there will be some pedal-based power meters on sale.

Here we are with about 3 weeks to go until the mega super uber deals start showing up. I'm in a much better financial position this year having budgeted for the "event" to get some cycling gear. I've already bought a few things that were too good of a deal to pass on, but there will no doubt be more.

Who is going to have these cycling bargains? Local bike shops? Online retailers? Just sales? Or really fantastic bargains?

Seems like late in November there are always some pretty decent deals to be had, given that everyone under the Sun is competing for the almighty dollar. Nashbar usually has totally free shipping plus a coupon code. CRC has sales. ProBikeKit and Ribble had good deals on tires last year.

That's what this thread is about. If you see the deals, post about them here so that our cycling brethren can enjoy.

Nope. I've given up on Black Friday in general. Sales just aren't worth it anymore.

Last year, ProWheelBuilder (probably others too) had a 25% coupon code IIRC.

Wanting to do another wheel build...and hoping a code pops up soon that I can use.

Going to be frugal this year, got a new slx system for the mtb last year. Already though I see wiggle has a full 5800 groupo for $350... and Jenson has some cheap wheelsets... sigh...

I might just indulge if I see a quality wheelset around $100 for a 27" to 700c conversion. Jenson has a set of Mavics laced to Deore hubs for $100, but it's 135mm with disc so that's out. Anything laced to some sealed hubs would be nice. Another one is a set with the odd 15mm thru/135mm QR f/r to refresh my mtb. That would be nice to spot on clearance.

I saw some great deals of Black Friday at Ebay but dont know they are offering a discount on automobile services or not, for this purpose you need to explore categories I hope they are offering sales on the bike because of its a famous online store.

Certainly in the UK it's a complete farce and just appears to be hype to get you into the stores to see items that the price had been hiked 6 weeks before so they could now say it's on sale at a discount ... that said I hope I'm wrong and there's bargain of the century out there as my combined B'day and Xmas pressie's a new bike and I have cash burning a hole in my pocket at the moment.
