Tough time with a new bike
Hello bikeforums, I'm new to the site, I just made an account but I've read up on the forums for the last two years, anyways,
I bought a Matte Black 2013 Leader 721 track bike about 2 months ago, but it's been giving me issues left and right. About 2 weeks in, I bent the chainring, the default 46t Corsa chainring. I switched it around to fixed (it's a flip-flop hub and I was riding freewheel previously) and LBS said it wouldn't do any more damage if I continued with the bent chain ring. I have kept it bent, but I've been getting all sorts of clicking and creaks from the bike when I go up hills or have to really spin away on the downhills (riding a 46:15, San-Francisco type hills in my neighborhood everywhere). I have spent close to 100 dollars in total on repairs. I'm having difficulty finding a chainring that fits the dimensions of my crank. It's difficult to find a crank that fits my BB, and it's too expensive to get a good new BB and crank. I've been browsing around. Any help? Either 46t chainrings with 144BCD or good track bikes under 1000? Any solutions? I would prefer to keep the bike because she's such a beaut

sounds like you need a new chainring, i believe 144 bcd. the clicking and creaks could come from a number of places. This forum is a good place to learn.

I don't think you should have a huge problem finding a new chainring for 144 because that's a standard size but you might have to go up on the teeth (I know you don't necessarily want to cause of the hills lol).

46 144bcd is super common and you buy bottom brackets according to cranksets you don't base your crankset purchase off your bottom bracket.

ive delt with citygrounds a few times and had to return an item once with Zero problems. Ive also delt with outsideoutfitters and they have pretty good prices, ship quickly and are easy to work with.

Creaks develop. Sometimes they are tough to source. First thing to do is to make sure everything is torqued properly.

I actually purchased the bike from citygrounds. I just wish I didn't have to return because I've grown so attached to my bike and I couldn't help not being able to ride it for so long . I'm looking around for 48t 144BCD chainrings.

Seriously, you aren't climbing hills if you're running that gearing, not real hills. Keep a careful eye on your knees because they'll go suddenly and just taking a week off probably won't do it.
