Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Woke up to 3 inches of fresh snow. Roads are slushy but the Saturn braved on.

Speaking of snow, I did have the local small engine place take a look at the snowblower. They confirmed the problem is the carburetor. They have to order the rebuild kit so it won't be ready for a week.

Mrs datlas and I do a lot of trail walking and we have also noticed a big increase in dog poop-bags lying at the side of the trail. Honestly, I would rather someone just flick the poop into the underbrush to decompose rather than bag it for eternity and sit there. I don't get it.

Hey bampilot06 did you have any luck selling your Spector & Eden?

I was playing bass last night and found myself wholly unsatisfied with my tone so I'm thinking that my whole bass rig might be on the chopping block, not just my 2x12 cabinet.

The wife has been frustrated with her mom, lately. Some time back, mother-in-law's GP informed their patients that they were unsure when, or even if, they'd receive vaccines to administer, and they advised that all should fill out the necessary online forms to get in queue for state disbursed immunizations. Instead, mother- and brother-in-law sat on their hands, assuming their GP would get it eventually.

My wife hadn't heard anything about this until her friend, who is from VA, informed my wife that her parents, who are younger and in better health than my mother-in-law, had already received their first round of immunizations. That news pissed off my wife - she'd been telling her mom that we'd like to visit her, but wouldn't do so until she'd been immunized (and there were no travel restrictions). Anyway, she finally got them signed up, but now there's a 3-4 week wait just to review the applications. There was some hope of squeezing out there over my son's spring break, but it's hard to say if she'll make that window, now.

It’s supposed to snow this weekend here and be really cold Saturday. I’m going to layer up and go play on my new bike regardless, I pick it up in 2 hours.

Tried running this morning for the first time in a while just to do something different. Was better than expected with splits of 9:07 (bit of a walking warm up), 7:33 and 7:06. Felt good to run and not have any hip pain, I miss it sometimes.

How about community service? Spend a day picking up poop all over the neighborhood as punishment.

I don’t know how to drive in sudden freezing rain either.

Some better than others. You should watch Ice Road Truckers (or whatever the show is called) and take notes so that you're prepared for whatever your endless winter throws at you.

I once crashed 10 seconds after liquid rain hit my windshield and the road surface went from dry to zero-friction. I got out of the car and immediately fell.
