Ultegra 6700 Di2 issues?
Hello:
I’m buying an ultegra 6700 di2 group by parts. I have heard that 11s ultegra can give software issues and derailers get stuck.Has anyone heard of any software or mechanical issued with 10s ultegra 6700 di2, please advise.
thanks

I have had no issues with my 6870 11 speed, no firmware problems at all in many years of owning it and no stuck derailleurs either. I had a failed derailleur under warranty but that was a result of my mis-shfiting after trying synchro-shifting before a big ride and they covered it. I didn't love it anyway so I am glad I got rid of it but the Di2 still works fine 4 years later after that ride and the replacement.
I think you are lucky the UDi2 is cross compatible I think it was only 10 speed Dura Ace Di2 that used a proprietary wiring system so if not mistaken any System 2 wiring (so nothing from 10 speed Dura Ace System 1 or the new 12 speed System 3) should work but double check all of that: https://bettershifting.com/di2-compa...rx-components/
TerryDi2C is a real knowledgeable person on Di2 and wrote the link above. I am sure they might pop in anyway but to get things going in case they wish to chime in.

In a shop setting, I did not notice any particular 6700 Di2 problems vs. other models or generations.

Many of the Di2 issues people have is either a wire that wasn't seated all the way onto the connector. And some of the connections are between two wires that might be buried in the frame. And therefore hard to find if you don't like removing the stuff that will let you follow every inch of Di2 wire.
Or many issues are probably just a problem with the user being a noob with them.

First question would be why?
1st gen DI2, long out of warranty / support, poor/no spares availability, 10 speed which for road is pretty much a dead end.
Suspect that it cheap? probably cheap for a reason, see above

I have the 1st generation Ultegra 6770 setup. I bought it used from a friend and have put it through 4,000 miles or so with no issues. The RD is rated to 28t max but I’m running a 30t on it and others have successfully run a 34t on it without replacing the stock cage to a longer cage.
My battery is about 10 yrs old but holds a charge with no issues but I did buy a spare battery when I saw it on clearance a few years back. I put about 60 miles/week on the bike and only need to charge it a few times a year.
I’ve always wanted to pick up a spare 6770 RD in case mine fails or gets damaged but they are scarce and expensive. If you can find a reasonably price 6770 RD then go for it, but it may be cheaper and easier to go with a later generation groupset.
