Clara Pt. 2
Some of you might recall the "Clara" rebranded Chiorda I bought a few years ago. The Clara stickers were badly damaged in shipment but the paint survived. She's on this years "to do" list but since reproducing the Clara graphics would cost far more than she is worth and it's an odd name for a bike brand anyway, I was going remove them and run without. However, I just found a very basic "CHIORDA" decal set at a reasonable price. What do do think, should Clara take back her maiden name or remain anonymous?

I paid too much for it and then doubled down and paid to get it shipped. It's a cheap bike by any respectable standard but it's also kind of cool.

hello again MIRVed,
you have two clues which if put together might help you to advance to origin of name
a) location of seller/shipper
b) transfer from ski shoppe
a) gives a place/area and b) gives a specific location
the forum had a similar situation with the Ghisallo marque
we had three or four cycles come through with this name
the common denominator was the Carolinas
it was eventually determined that they had been done for a retail shop large enough to do some of its own importation

There was no ski shop doing business as "Ski Co." but there is a chain called "Ski Company who Ii tried contacting through their website with no response. If the Ski Company now operating in his area is the same one they now only sell ski equipment, they have 4 locations which are only open during ski season. The seller who was in the same city as one of the shops had tried to find some information on the bike but no one in the area had ever heard of the brand so I'm guessing their venture into marketing a house brand bike was very short lived. I wonder how much the name they chose for the bikes had to do with it? I'm thinking the name may have been more of an attempt to bring to mind "Stella" bikes rather than homage to a female family member or "acquaintance", then again it may have been both.
Notice any resemblance?
Stella..........
Clara.....
