Does any vintage, production touring bike have chainstays as long as the 720 ('85 620)? They are friggin' long.

Thanks. Not quite familiar with "Yarper". Those levers are Shimano's. First time using them, and they seem to be good. Being a single speed, I am out of the saddle frequently and they're are really good to 'hook' into while climbing campared to the Campy clones I had been running on other bikes.

Got some better pics of the Voyageur. Its the only bike I really spend time on, and I am planning on riding it from Austin to Dallas soon.

The Tektro R200 levers are about the only ones I use now. Love the built in Q/R feature and I do find them comfortable and they are a great value.
I have found the tan hoods don't last near as well as the black but I think you can replace them for about $10 or so.

Got in 36 miles on my 84 Voyageur yesterday riding down to the State Fair of Texas. Got my Fletchers's corny dog fix and then burned off the calories on the way home.
This bike has such a smooth ride & I am liking the Ritchey Biomax bars I installed on it a lot. Lots of flat real estate across the top and the rare times I go go to the drops they fit my hands great.
I recently opened up the rear hub thinking I would check the cups & bearings but these Sunshine Gyromaster hubs have sealed cartridge bearings.
No maintenance to do that I could see. I am not all that up on them. Is the only maintenance to replace the cartridge after many thousands of miles when it does not spin smoothly any longer?

I share your appreciation of the "real estate" across the top of the bar, and like you, that's where my hands spend most of their time. If the drops fit your hands well, who can argue with success? I just don't like the looks of ergo bars though. Cinelli Giro d' Italia for me!

How high above the seat are the handle bars? I have my at +34 mm using a Nitto Technomic at full quill length on my 87 Voyaguer. BTW, I love the R341 levers, same as the R200 but with the shorter reach.

Here is my 1987 loaded for a 5 day tour.
Muddied up the second day after a few miles of rain on a soggy state rail trail...

So many Voyager voyeurs . . .
A very nice bike. Around 1982-ish, I bought one for my first (read EX) wife. After she subsequently left me for one of my "friends" (who owned an early Klein), I bought my new girlfriend (who eventually became my wife of 28 years as of this month) a Schwinn LeTour. I recall that on the infamous ultra-hilly Eureka Spring Fling (Fayetteville to Eureka Springs, Arkansas) ride, my future wife got into a "contest" with my ex and proceeded to drop her on the steep climbs. A few years later I bought her a Colnago Super, and she proceeded to leave me (and others) in the dust on club rides. You gotta love a woman like that!
Regardless, that Voyager really was a nice bike.

Badger, that is beautiful! Not just your Voyageur, but the whole shot. The SKS/Riv long board fenders go great on it!

BTW: The Brooks arrived 3 days before I left. I treated it with proof hide put in on an extra post and took one 20 mile ride to test the comfort and dial it in and decided to go with it. I never even thought of my seat on the 245 mile tour it was so comfortable.

This looks like a 52-54 is in really nice shape and the price was good. The hubs have an 11/86 stamp on them.
Columbus Tanex? Canti brakes, low rider mounts and 3 water bottle bosses! I hope to get it ready for some touring next summer with my daughter.
She claims she wants to do a tour after she graduates from High School this spring. Wahoo!
