Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You know that rhinos are an endangered species, right?

They're just doing their part in keeping them out there in the world.

Indeed, RS505. The bike came from giant with R7000 shifters hooked up to giant branded trp hydraulic calipers courtesy of the stem mounted giant conduct hybrid hydraulic reservoir. It was messy, ugly and impracticable. The aim was to use R7020 shifters but these RS505s came up as a steal. I have large hands so they fit me ok but the extra 2-3 cm reach needed to be compensated for over the R7000 with a 90cm stem instead of 110.

If the choice is ugly 505s or that Giant converter, you made the right choice.

Ouch, indeed. Just curious - you've asked for a full replacement from whom?

Giant will replace the frame, talk to the shop you bought it from. Giant does two years full replacement for their carbon frames.

Glad you're ok!

Wow - two years of free crash replacement is pretty damned generous. That's awesome.

It's pretty common for Home insurers to cover bicycles (nominated or not) in the contents insurance outside of home here in Australia.

The extract from my Public Disclosure Statement reads;

What is not covered?
the ownership, possession, use or operation of any vehicle, watercraft or aircraft (except for a bicycle, mobility scooter, wheelchair, cart, hobby aircraft or remote controlled toy);

&

Contents Accidental Loss or Damage What is covered? Accidental loss or damage to your contents, at and away from the premises, up to the amounts shown on your policy schedule.

I would have if it was a simple frame crack. Unfortunately due to damage accross the bike and accessories i elected to go through my insurance.

Decals swapped. Also swapped the stock alloy bars and stem for the Cervelo carbon stem and aero bars. Once I lose 30 lbs I may drop the stem, but can’t stay down that low right now.

a tapered 20mm headset top will look a little better than the one you have.

That's way hot for a bike with no drop.

Good point, they'll only replace the frame, not components. They'd prob still give you a warranty frame if you asked, shouldn't have anything to do with whether or not insurance covered it.

That chintzy Megarange freewheel is nearly as uncool as a dork disk, but I reckon the bike has potential... Throw on a tan saddle to match the hoods, and some hardox rims, I reckon.

I like the saddle, personally. Matches the lug cutouts, the lug lining, and the downtube decal
