Has Bonktown lost its luster?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

As others have said, way to much clothing and stupid items, can't remember the last time I've seen anything worthwhile on there...

i use a program called MacSAC which tracks all the back country outlet sites and lets you specify keywords. i have it set to never show me anything with the word women's in it, bonktown has become much less annoying since.

I bought several things from them when they started (including a very nice Swobo jersey). I have the browser plugin that show the current deal and I haven't seen anything interesting in months, except for maybe the Reynolds wheels.

Realcyclist.com (also owned by backcountry, just like Bonktown and Chainlove) has had good prices on stuff I've purchased lately. Doesn't hurt they gave me a free $20 voucher for xmas (I guess I bought enough stuff from them) and that I got a 15% discount coupon too that I used on my last order...

Can you purchase things from multiple sites owned by them and have combined shipping, or are they all separate?

I still haven't bought from Bonktown, I never need road bike stuff.

Now WhiskeyMilitia... THAT'S a site. I've bought 10-15 products from them in all. I've got 3 pairs of sweet skate shoes (they look cool, and I've got no arches, so they work great for me) for under $20 each, a few cool shirts, an awesome winter hoodie with sherpa lining, a watch, glasses, etc.

The femmes are impressed when you gift them some sweet Spy or Electric sunglasses that you scored for $30, too.

Yeah, it's 90% women's clothing. I'm also seeing a lot of non-roadie gear, like baggy 3/4-length pants, wheels "perfect for that fixie conversion", messenger bags, that sort of thing. I thought that was supposed to go away when they chainged from chainlove.

I'm not in the market for a 2k frame, and when I see cheaper stuff (tubes, tires) the shipping cost kills the deal.

I still keep it up though, they earned some grace by selling me my 3 favorite jerseys (merino wool) for cheap. I guess I just no longer expect to actually find something.

departmentofgoods.com

you'll probably find everything that's on rotation on all of the tweeting sites. I think it's really a conglomerate parent company (backcountry/rei) who broke down into subsidiaries. dept of goods has everything from hiking, biking, skiing, clothes, and gear. very similar to what you see since I think it's all the same company just different marketing strategies with similar marketing engines.

^ Yeah, but the prices seem to be higher. The Hutchinson tires I saw a few days ago for $20 on bonktown are $35 on dept of goods.

their deals seem to get better at the right clearance times of year. right now isn't it. and at their best maybe 1 in 10 is worth looking at.

You may want to revisit your life situation if this pushes you to suicide.
