Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help me find a deal on jerseys..

Hey guys, the last thing I need to buy is a few jerseys. I've been using my running shirts so far. Do y'all have a go to place to get jerseys? What do I look for? I'm a size medium. Thanks guys!!

I've never checked there. I'll try that. Anything I should stay away from?

There's often nice, relatvely inexpensive cycling jerseys at theclymb.com. And if you use this link, I get $15 off a future purchase. :-) I've bought tons of stuff from them. Customer service has been flawless. highly recommended and no, I don't work for them. Wish I did though, ha.

Stay far away from the Chinese or Indonesian sites selling knock off cycling clothing. They are poor, poor imitations and 100% counterfeit.

You get what you pay for. Unless it's on sale.

Watch Chainlove.com or get their Chrome browser add in. There are good deals there. Also, amgentourofcaliforniastore.com will clear out the previous years' jerseys once per year. I have a Hincapie jersey that was $12.50 and is probably my favorite one.

I hate the feeling of paying Someone to do their advertising for them. That's like buying a car with Red Bull ads all over it.

I'm the same way, though I did break the rule just yesterday, when Competitive Cyclist had a BMC emblazoned jersey/bib set for $29. We'll see what the quality and fit turn out to be like, but that's so cheap for those items, that I thought it was worth whoring myself out as a rolling billboard!

And on the car note, when we bought our most recent car, I told the dealer to not even think about putting their corny dealership name ad on the back, or he would be giving me a discount!

I'm the same way too. But $25 seemed like a good deal. I was going to get one of the Japanese national champ jerseys from pbk, but they sold out. I've always been function over form anyway. Don't matter what it says on it to me, to a certain extent.

Just FYI - I actually wouldn't cheap out on the jerseys even if you can.

A good jersey will last essentially forever. I only own 3 jerseys, and they're indestructible. My favorite is a Specialized jersey that is 12 years old now and despite washing it with no special care after every use/ride, it's still like new, and I use it at minimum 1x/wk, usually closer to 2x/wk.

I've bought, and sold, some awesome used jerseys on ebay. I especially prefer jerseys from teams long gone or especially cool looking...to me.

Theclymb has assos stuff marked down on occasion and chainlove (if you have the time to check it every 20 minutes) has excellent deals on decent gear...I hear the deals and items are more plentiful in the fall though. Still, it might be worth picking up a few cheaper ones and then when fall hits, stock up for next year.

Also, if you're looking for cold weather gear, that is very plentiful on chainlove right now as well.

There's usually marked down items on performance and nashbar as well.

I'm holding off on buying more kit until Twin Six moves this season's kit to clearance in the fall. I love their jerseys and have yet to try their bibs but have heard nothing but good reviews.

+1 for watching chainlove.com for deals. My sweet spot seems to be $30 or less. I've bought two Mavic jerseys and two Pearl Izumi's for the girlfriend in the last two months.

I actually use cleansnipe.com to sent text alerts to my phone when certain jerseys hit chainlove's site. They let you look at the history of what chainlove has sold so you can set alerts for when stuff pops back up.

I love the look of matching kits. Chaadster, I bought that BMC set from Competitive Cylist and it's very nice quality for being a replica and for the price. I've gotten a ton of use out of them already. $29.99 for a new bibs/jersey combo is hard to beat -- and it comes with a nylon bag, too. I also scored a Vermarc Quick Step kit used from a dude in the UK for about $40 including shipping. Pretty nice condition for the price. I've gotten some very nice stuff off of theclymb including my favorite base layer from Campy. I wear them three seasons of the year and they hold up to repeated washing AND they're great for other workouts too.
