...you actually consider a plastic headset to be a workable compromise. Well nylon really, and it only had to last for an hour, so it was probably over engineered for this bikes purpose. In the words of the great Colin Chapman "to make a car lighter, keep taking things off until it breaks... then put the last thing you took off back" The builder of this bike definitely thought the same way.

Looking at the Moser La Horas again, (which could never be praised enough) here's a bunch of the little brother as well, just to make sure we don't forget about them. Like with Cinelli there's life beyond Laser, Moser also had some other nice (even if they are a bit closer to Earth) bikes as well..
They came in other colors a well, but the blue-white faded is the more common (and the best in my opinion, but that's a matter of taste).

UPDATE (googled again): according to a Reedit thread, "Internationally acclaimed USSR bike maker Petrov Vidori hired a Swiss wheel designer by the name of Marti Gadient, they were both commissioned to create a bike and wheelset that would be primarily superior aerodynamically to other countries track team's bikes. Marti was approached by the US and they tried to discourage him from working with Russians at the time because it would hurt America's image, Marti was enraged and insisted that they never attempt to contact him again, as he saw what he was doing as purely track bike influenced, not political. However, Marti was openly pro communist, so the US viewed it as helping the Communist party, and not so much driven because of the sportsmanship aspect. Having to initially travel to Russia to transport the materials needed to engineer and fabricate the wheels, the train shipping the materials was sabotaged by pro-west forces, Marti had suspected the US in attempting to sabotage the train in order to stall and prevent the project from being finished, but Marti and Petrov remained hopeful, and eventually (covertly) transported all of the materials to Moscow, where they developed the wheel Ivan Vedeneyev Oculi, or "IVO". It was named after the late TT cyclist who broke the world record in a time Trial race.. The design was influenced by the look of swiss cheese. Petrov found this extremely unusual, but did not refuse the design. During the race that the IVO was debuted, around the 6th lap, all of the pro cyclists on the track using this wheel ended up dying because they all broke and killed the riders. Marti died."
So it's not only visually but literally a Killer (if we can believe the story), but I'd still love to have it, e.g. on either (better both, don't ask why as I can't ride them here in Germany) of the below setups - or in any other form:

Where did these ads run? Were they like the old tool calendars with pinup art and given to mechanics that were largely male at the time? Or, were these run in trade magazines?[/QUOTE]
My guess that the one posted by me is a recently issued poster. They are kind of like the pinup calendars until one sees the old Rossin ads...

What's with the super slack HT angle? Reminds me of a frame I had long ago, it was a 52 but with a HT from a 50 and very slight negative sloping, I thought the builder messed up the angles and used such an slack HT angle to avoid excesive toe overlap. Obviously not the case of the 3Rensho...

Hi, I am the owner of this bike. You have to bear in mind people build bikes how they want, not necessarily to be period correct, so Don’t be fooled by the decals, the previous owner put those on, along with the groupset etc. The bike was built in 1985, as confirmed by Geoff Scott. He built 5 of the frames, for some of New Zealand’s best cyclists at the time, Who were part of the Southern districts cycling club. Members of this team won the national teams time trial championship 9 years in a row.

As Freud once said "Sometimes a bicycle seat is just a bicycle seat."
I love the "what did I just write...I am exhausted" part as I know the feeling....especially with all this craziness going on right now.....so don't worry Lattz....besides you get bonus points for the Swiss cheese reference which is inspiring me to go make a sandwich right now. Thanks.

Thank you so much Lattz for looking this up. It sounds like a spy novel....not a bike making story. I know that politics have always played a big part in sport though. I could believe most of it almost except the very last part. It makes a great story though.....do I see the first Lo Pro movie here??? The Swiss cheese reference is fitting and I am wishing I had some pumpernickel right now to go with mine.

Takhion TT bike on ebay
I'm still not qualified for posting links on bikeforum, but do yourself the favor of searching ebay for "Takhion Super Sport time trial pursuit". I would love to own that one, much more than the track version!

I guess most of us here might share your feelings. I would also love to have this especially since in Germany 2 independent brakes are a must by law. Anyway I would not kick any of these out from my wall. We had a Takhion day a few pages back if you are interested

It's not as flashy as many, but I was attracted to this frame. I picked it up near the end of last year. I think I will swap the saddle and maybe the bars. I really like the high flange Suntour Sprint hubs, but not sure about the rims.

It was almost unrideable and the only person to ever go more than a few meters -and actually steer- was a champion trials stud Libor Koras.
For whatever it is worth, it is incredible well made. Super high tolerances. All 4 front wheels steer and have little hydaulic drum brakes. Very cool engineering and construction of a very bad idea.
