Hi: very sad news my Look was stolen from my office while I have been way. From san francisco, Honda Odyssey and an old Cadillac (or Lincoln?)
I have the serial number and filing a report, but if you get any leads on it- 59cm Carbon fiber with mix of dura-ace and tricolor:

No fun at all.
I had a favorite stolen in 1976
Still think it might turn up on eBay at some point.
I would visit the local bike shops, with pic and as much info as possible, leaving a printout in a plastic sleeve and offering them a reward. Better than only sadness

Damn, sorry. That really stinks. Good luck with recovery. Best, Eric

yeah I have some hope as long as they get greedy and try to sell it full on. if they just strip it down and toss the frame - that would suck.

During the dot com boom, an Archirectural firm I worked at in SF had many cameras, bicycles and laptops dissapear on them when strangers snuck in during lunch hour and end of the day to steal them. Our office was very busy then and constantly expanding on two whole floors of a building off Broadway Street and Vallejo (A kind of "roughish" area of the City near Columbus Circle), so there were many new, unfamiliar faces always popping up every day in the office, so when people off the streets would sneak in, not too many would notice. I always considered bringing my bikes or other valuable personal things to work all these years but never did, because of this. Just never ever trust any other place than inside your home to leave your bikes unattended. Just not worth the risk.

heh. well my house has been robbed twice so i thought work was safer as we have on campus security, card locks on the outside, and my office has a thick steel door. The problem is, whoever they are, had a key card for the building and the key to my office. they walked right in. security cameras have them, but of course, wearing masks.
So it was an inside job. The bike was not the only thing stolen.

beautiful bike and i will admit to having shopped ebay (not lately tho) for a 58, 59 or 60cm look such as this. couldn't find this one in my size. found a look kg 131 and
picked it up in january. will keep an eye out for it here in san diego.
theoretically, there would be a key card log potentially available from security...coupled with video would def narrow it down. sounds like someone "knew" you would be away.

Could you PM me any specific details that could be a gotcha if I encounter one of these on a ride? “Ooh, is that a [x] that you have on that one?” I am planning a ride tomorrow and will keep my eyes peeled.

Yeah, they used a vendor card-- which is black access card. they are investigating and I have some small hope they might actually figure it out as its not just SFPD but the public safety at the school, who have more time to work on it. The have video but its not great.

I will keep my eyes peeled for it, but my range of travel is greatly reduced these days, still...might chance upon it and will call the cops if I do. What's the ref to "Honda Odyssey and an old Cadillac (or Lincoln?)" were those stolen too or are they the thieve's vehicles?

I am sure they are already looking at cameras on campus as well as in the parking structures to see if a license plate will turn up.....I hope you get it back.

The thieves were most likely not cyclist but just plain robbers that will try to flip everything they stole, asap, to get the heat off their backs, so the next couple of weeks will be critical in watching all sources for bikes for sale in the area.
Don't expect too much help from SFPD. They are typically not that concerned about recovering stolen bikes, like most other police departments in the country.

I read they now have a threshold, below which is no longer worth the resources of the SFPD (and many other jurisdictions). I handled a theft claim from a vehicle parked at a hotel there, PD did not investigate, $5000. There was video and hotel was told to just keep it. I hope you get it back.

it is a weird coincidence as one can go years without one appearing.

Got your serial number? Recently built out, too tall for him...

bicycle type: road
frame size: 56 cm
make / manufacturer: Look
model name / number: Kg96
wheel size: 700C
Look kg96 team replica,
Excellent condition, only ridden 10 times or so since the bike was built out, never crashed. Reason for selling is it’s too large for me.

I'm not sure the forum tagging system is still working, so I'll forward this to him in a PM.
I'm not convinced it's the same bike though - there's no black anodizing on the chainstay derailer cable stop on the CL bike. Also, that small white nick in the chainstay protector isn't there either.
Someone would have had to rebuild the whole thing (and get repop stickers for a very nice threadless fork match) though. That drivetrain also looks like it has had more than 10 rides on it. Still, who knows...?
