I fell in love with it the first time I saw it.

I offered to buy it for my wife, but she wants to go in a little different direction on her next bicycle.

Plus she already has her Primato from a local team.

However, hers is not ELOS.

At least that was my argument to her.

Well, it won't be as fast as the "red" one. But it is a better size and I'm not that much into speed anymore anyway!

Beautiful! Congratulations. I'd love to try an ELOS frame, especially a Primato. Is that full 8-sp Record? Too bad the new De Rosa is missing the chromed head lugs and fork crown, but size trumps all.

8-speed record, I think 1993, definitely before 1995 as there are no group names and 8-speed came out in 1991.

Yes limited chrome, but less bling isn't always bad. Lets one fly under the radar, so to speak. I have another one in this same size that is pretty rough that I have decided to keep, at least for the time being, and over the winter I may have it reconditioned and if I do I will probably minimize the chrome on that one as well. Makes the reconditioning process quite a bit less expensive.

Actually I have 4 of these, but the red one is definitely going. I have a very rough teal one in the same size as the blue one I just got and I also have this champagne colored one in a 55 which is also a great fit for me. I don't have a picture with the handlebars taped, but the color is really kind of stunning, particularly with black bar tape. It does not have the classic flat crowned fork, but it does have a fully chromed, lugged, unicrown EL fork that has DeRosa dropouts. I got it from a racer in Canada who bought it from the DeRosa dealer in Germany.

Other than the ride quality, the thing that I really like about these bikes is the short top tube lengths. My 55 has a top tube of 54.5 and these 56's have a top tube of only 55. Makes for a very comfortable ride for me as I have very short arms and small hands. I am running 10 speed friction on the one below with Simplex shifters and a 12-28 IRD cassette which comes in handy in the mountains. I am going to put a 10 speed compact or triple with ergo shifters on the teal one shortly.

I finally got some record 170mm cranks, so I suspect that will make both De Rosas a lot more enjoyable for me, especially the Primato. The Primato is about a 56.5 cm ST, ctc, which is pushing it for me, and the long cranks really affected the ride. 170mm should be a lot better. It has a 56cm ctc TT, which is just right with the 100mm stem. The Primatos are just fantastic bikes...I love that mine has the chromed head lugs and chromed flat fork crown.

Very drool worthy sir! I think everyone has a Primato except me. I'm not even sure they made them in a 60cm. Some of you scurvy dogs have more then one. That's just being greedy right there. And no I'm not jealous, well maybe a little, ok maybe a lot.

Yours must be one size up from mine. 56 top tube wouldn't do it for me, too long.

Holy smokes, that has to be one of the prettiest De Rosas I've ever seen.

That paint color is a grand slam.

We have a stripped bare metal Corum at the shop.

I think we just found a winner of a color choice.

How would the ride compare to a UO-8? Those seem to be rated near the top.

That has to be the best use of a UO8 I've ever heard. I bought one with my paperboy money and the next thing I knew I was riding a cruiser (I was way ahead of my time...)
