Merckx/Caloi Motorola 1995 team bike, mostly original

Been a while.....
Looking at a bike that was reportedly a 1995 team issue Axel Merckx bike. Looks like a Corsa Extra (SLX? 753 mix?) - missing tubing sticker, but I've sent the frame number to Merckx for info.

Mostly original Dura Ace 8 speed (7400?) with non-original saddle.
Perfect fit for me, so looking to pick this up as a rider.

What's a reasonable price in this group's eyes? I'm thinking $1k is a reasonable sweet spot.
Thoughts?

I'd say $800 to $1100 so I think you're in the ballpark... Team bike makes it worth more I assume...

Team bike, Merckx and D/A. 1k sounds quite reasonable to me.

Yes, team bike status will bump up the value higher than if it was a "regular" bike, but the less familiar name on the bike and the large size of the frame limits that potential a bit too....

Thanks for the feedback. I agree - the team frame (especially a Merckx CE) makes it a bit more enticing.
If I end up getting this one, my intent would be to strip it down and refurbish everything (keeping frame original, of course), then get it out and enjoy it. I'm only riding ~100 miles a week these days, so mostly "sporty" recreational riding, and the occasional group ride or event.

Curious as to why its wearing DT shifters , but its also 23 years old, so could have gone through any number of revisions over the years

I saw a frameset for one of those many years ago in my size and I'm still kicking myself for missing out on it. The one I saw was a couple years more recent and MXL, but whatever it is, it's a cool bike.

I wondered the same, as many pro riders had switched to STI/Ergo by 1995. However, I've found that a number of riders in the peloton stuck with DT shifters.

I'm hanging fire on this one at the moment - it's on Ebay with a starting bid of $1450 ATM (previous listing started at $1800). Seller may not be willing to let it go for $1k ish. Size is perfect for me. From what I can see, I'll need to tear the bike down, give it a thorough cleaning / address rust, refurbish the components, and build it back up with a fresh chain and cassette.
We'll see.
I've also just purchased a Columbus EL tubed Zullo TVM team frame from a seller in Poland, for $300. I'll build that one up if the Merckx falls through.
